26. Photography The magazines in which I researched featured posed photography on the front cover. Therefore I followed this convention by using a posed photograph on the front cover for my magazine. I was inspired by this particular image as this magazine issue was published in the 80s and the style of image I wanted to use for my magazine was an old image that would have originally been taken in the 80s.
27. Mastheads When carrying out my existing product research I found that the masthead was always across the top of the page. Therefore I followed this convention by putting the masthead on my magazine across the top of the page.
28. Cover lines The magazines in which I researched features cover lines on the front cover. This is done to attract the audience to buy their magazine. Therefore I followed this convention by using cover lines on the front cover of my magazine to attract my audience.
29. Text/Articles All of the magazines that I researched featured articles inside the magazine on the double page spreads therefore it was a necessity for me to follow this convention. I featured a relevant article, to what my magazine would publish to suit its audience, on my DPS.
30. Bar code Bar codes are needed on a magazine in order for people to purchase the product. Not all of the magazines that I researched featured bar codes on the front cover however they will have featured somewhere on the magazine.
31. Contents page When carrying out my existing product research I found that all magazines have contents pages in order for the audience to find out what features on each page, making it easier to locate different aspects of the magazine. I followed this convention by featuring a contents page in my magazine. However, I did develop this convention by making my contents page less structured and more random. I haven’t presented it in columns, instead in boxes in different colours broken up by images.
32. Fonts Page numbers Page numbers are featured in all magazines to match the contents and so people know where they are in the magazine. Therefore I followed this convention by featuring page numbers on my magazine. Bold and simple fonts are used so that they are easy to read and stand out therefore I followed this convention.
33. Colour Scheme The music magazine in which I researched that was actually published used bright colours with a white background. I developed the conventions of this 80s magazine colour scheme by changing the background from completely white to grey and white to make it more modern.
