3. Module Learning Outcomes
● Students will be able to:
● * Build and edit part files using the SolidWorks parametric modeller.
● * Construct assembly files from created part files.
● * Demonstrate an ability to capture and implement design intent in product design.
● * Generate fully dimensioned and annotated working drawings for created parts and
assemblies.
● * Demonstrate proficiency in using SolidWorks to create free-form sculptured and
complex swooping surfaces required for consumer products.
● * Communicate with the FDM rapid prototyping system.
● * Apply the design process to solving a design problem using SolidWorks and explain
their design solution.
● * Demonstrate bottom-up and top-down assembly procedures.
● * Use a range of SolidWorks add-in applications.
●
5. Project Deliverables
Carry out a comprehensive analysis of all pertinent aspects of a powered handheld
steam cleaner design and create informed concept sketches based on your research
to show how you have arrived at your overall housing design. This information should
then be used to inform your sketch geometry in SolidWorks. Then within SolidWorks
2012 produce a complete detailed assembly virtual model and all associated drawing
documentation for your particular steam cleaner.
