Each municipality included in this survey has had its skate park open at
least one year. In total, 102 officers in 37 states, from Oregon to New Hampshire, were interviewed. Populations within each municipality varied from >10,000 to <300,000.

Skateboarding: Instruction, Programming, and Park Design by Ben Wilson (2009) provided me with my initial research into the world of skate park production, management, and design. He reinforces the fact that all appropriate security measures need to be used if available. It was an excellent way to obtain a baseline of knowledge to reference while interviewing the 13 municipalities listed.

Police Chief and Parks &Rec Director from Swansboro came for in-house visit: Recommended on site staffing, cameras, and provided us with inspection sheets to ensure the park is in operable conditions.
Local Mini-Golf companies recommend surveillance to watch over the greens and equipment.

David Pugh of Wilmington, NC approached me with this idea as it is simplistic and very cost efficient in deterring after hours use of the facilities. He informed me that upon opening skaters may try to break in still just because of the fact that it is a new attraction.
