2. BEFORE YOU BEGIN COMMENTING
Make sure you have a complete gravatar profile
What is a gravatar?
A gravatar is an image that appears beside your name when you comment on blog
posts, web forums, etc.
It’s a custom avatar that follows you all around the web.
It hyperlinks to your company website.

3. Reason 1
ACKNOWLEDGE THE BLOGGER
Tell the blogger they aren’t writing to dead air. A comment tells the
blog owner know you saw the post.
Without comments, a blogger can’t put a name to a page visit. So let
them know you’re there and you’re listening,
Comments let the blogger know that you’re enjoying the information
and finding it useful.
Validate the content shared by letting the writer know how helpful it is.
4. Reason 2
GET SOME LINK LOVE
Most blog comment forms ask for your email address and/or website.
When your comment appears your gravatar will appear along with it. If
the reader clicks your name it will lead them straight to your website.
Some bloggers install plugins, such as CommentLuv, which will
automatically add a hyperlink to your latest comment and/or blog post
in your comment area.
This is an extra incentive to bloggers to leave a thoughtful comment.
It’s yet another juicy link back to your own blog/website. Pretty cool!
5. Reason 3
PROMOTE YOUR INTERESTS & EXPERTISE
A thoughtful comment that adds to a post, or offers a different
perspective, will promote your interests and expertise, both to the blog
owner and readers.
Commenting helps build relationships and visibility with other bloggers,
business owners, and future clients.
As traffic increases for that blog post, so will your visibility, and potential
of people seeing your comment and visiting your blog.
This can spark an extended discussion, additional comments, and the
start of new relationships.
6. Reason 4
DRIVE WEBSITE TRAFFIC & BACKLINKS
A reader that likes or agrees with your comment may visit your
website. I regularly get new blog visitors from other blogs when I leave a
comment.
Commenting is great for SEO and backlinks. Backlinks are links back to
the content on your page. They give search engines an idea of how
popular and relevant your site is.
Remember in reason #2 where most comment forms ask for your email
and website? This is an automatic backlink to you. Who doesn’t want to
increase their SEO?
7. Reason 5
BUILD RELATIONSHIPS AND COMMUNITY
Commenting on a person’s blog can help open the door to them visiting
your blog and returning the favor. This happens more often than not, and
it just may lead to a great business friendship.
If there are blogs that you visit frequently, and you post thoughtful
comments that add to the discussion, you’ve just become a part of the
blog’s community.
It’s all about relationships and visibility. You never know where your
next opportunity may come from.
8. A SOCIAL MEDIA COMMENT IS NOT THE
SAME THING
Many people give a brief comment on Twitter or Facebook, but that’s
not the same as commenting directly on the post.
Post your comment directly on the blog itself.
Of course the icing on the cake would be to add a comment in both
places, the blog and via social media. So go ahead, share the love!
