5. Started by Friends in 1869 to educate girls, there was soon a boys’ school, too. Now they are both co-ed but keep their historic names. Friends Girls School is the elementary school Friends Boys School is the high school

6. Nearly 1200 students are enrolled, including children with special needs.

9. ASHA = American Schools and Hospitals Abroad In the US, 2 cents of every tax dollar goes to foreign aid. A small portion of that 2 cents is for ASHA projects in developing countries. In the past 12 years, FUM has received millions of grant $$ to improve Ramallah Friends School. This photo depicts the opening of a new classroom building in the fall of 2009.

10. Multipurpose Building Science and Technology Building The students have more academic opportunities with the improvements.

11. An International Baccalaureate Program results in high academic standards and achievements. About 30 % enroll in US Colleges Nearly 100%of Graduates attend College

12. With the goal of gaining revenue to support RFS, FUM is considering the development of land for commercial use. It would be along two sides of the sports field.

13. The project would be funded by OPIC (U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation.)

15. We see children blooming and growing.

16. With much success, Joyce Ajlouny has invited the alumni to help fund a kindergarten center and new auditorium for the Girls’ School. It will fit in this space.

17. F.U.M. also helps support the Amari Play Center, a pre-school in the Refuge Camp.

18. Ramallah Friends Meeting is now 100 years old.

19. Hidden in the center of the city, it provides a quiet and welcoming place for worship.

20. And a hospitality center for international Friends and other visitors.
