5. What would you do differently next time?
Next time I would try to ensure that my task are completed on time. I would
take more creative pictures.
What kind of feedback did you get that might influence you?
Some of my friends who looked at the front page and contents page
told me that the text was a bit to difficult to read. This feedback would
influence me to try and change the font or colour of the text so that it is
easier to read
What aspects of your understanding of Adobe Photoshop &
InDesign do you need to improve?
I need to learn how to use a wider range of tools in both InDesign and
Adobe Photoshop.
Reflections & Feedback
6. Gospel
and my chosen title is WORD because the Gospels in the
Bible are described as the word and the genre of my
magazine is Gospel so I think the title will reflect the genre
to the audience. The additional reason I have for choosing
this title for the magazine is that ‘word’ is also a slang term
which means well said. This meaning of the word will
encourage the audience to believe that the magazine has
stories on truthful and meaningful things. My magazine is
aimed at teenagers so the use of slang will help to make it
more relatable.
8. Gospel magazines tend to
have a layout which uses left
and right justification of text
and simple ordering and
organisation of text to one
side and images on the other.
The Cover Lines are all colour
coordinated. The colours
used match the skin tone of
Mary Mary which helps the
audience to link the two. The
colours used are warm, and
calming colours which help
the audience feel relaxed. The
font used is large which
makes it more attractive and
noticeable the font used also
makes the characters of the
text are smooth which
emphasises the calmness of
the colours.
9. Target Audience:
Teenagers and young adults
Frequency:
Once every month
Cover price:
£2.99
Publisher:
New life publishing
Unique Selling Point:
Gospel magazine aimed at the younger
generation
10. Front cover
The images hold connotations that
indicate the genre of the magazine
but also make the magazine relatable
to my target audience (teenagers and
young adults).
The colour scheme is bright to give
the magazine a positive and inviting
feel
The special offers e.g. ‘win a new
iPod’ are there to encourage the
reader to continue looking at the
magazine.

17. Contents Page The key features are:
The stories
The information given
about the stories
The pictures
The page Numbers
18. The colour scheme on the contents page is
the same as the colour scheme on the front
page.
I have used the same pictures on the
contents page as I did on the front cover.
19. How have you made the reader want to read
on?
I made the reader want to read on by using the attractive colours and pictures. I also gave them some
information about the stories inside.
What are the links between images and
words?
The colours of the word match the colours around the pictures. The page next to the pictures match the page
numbers next to the words.
What determines the dominant stories?
The large and bright colour fonts emphasise that some stories are more dominant.
How have you gone about ordering the
information on the page?
From the main story and so on
20.
21. It makes use of two images but still manages
to fit in enough detail.
The two images give the audience more
variety but they also give the audience
insight to two different sides of Drake ( the
man in picture). The allow us to see him as
an everyday person that we can relate to but
also allow us to see what he does a career
and gives us an idea as to why he is being
interviewed/wrote about.
22.
23. The images portray the genre of the
magazine but also give the readers insight
into the rappers career.
There isn’t too much text on the page
because I learnt from my research that my
target audience would most likely be put off
my too much text and would prefer to have a
variety of picture and text.
24. The front cover, contents page and double
page spread are linked together through the
use of: a consistent colour scheme, use of
the same images and use of simple and bold
font.
