3. Work History
1971 to 1975 Walkers Ltd Maryborough
Apprentice Boilermaker
Steel fabrication, Sugar mill components, Diesel locomotive components,
Plate rolling & pressing & Profile cutting.
1975 to 1981 King Turner Engineering Brisbane
Leading hand Boilermaker, Fabrication & erection of structural steel for
predominantly government projects. I was mostly based on site with a
team comprised of riggers, crane driver, Ta’s & boilermaker.
1981 to 1982 CRA Bougainville Copper
Leading hand material handling, working closely with the planning
department it was my duty to gather all the materials & components to
carry out the planned tasks.
1982 to 1985 Hornibrooks Bougainville
Workshop Manager of Island steel joint venture. Responsible for
supervision of workshop staff, safety in the workshop, quality control,
ordering of materials & consumables & estimating. This workshop
employed 100 men on three shifts, the operation covered general
fabrication, mining equipment rebuilds, concrete reinforcing steel, grit
blasting & painting yard.
1985 to 1990 Morex Meats Maryborough
Boilermaker / maintenance Fitter, Fabricated and erected new boiler
house, installed coal fired boiler and associated tanks and piping. Stayed
on to maintain plant & equipment.
1990 to 2005 REB Engineering Mackay
Started as Boilermaker completing numerous shutdowns on wash plants
and draglines at most of the mines in the Bowen basin.
In late 1991 I was sent to Gordinstone underground mine, here on
completion of construction in 1992 I was given the task to establish a
workshop to service the mining industry in the Emerald area.
I established and managed for eight years a very successful underground
conveyor installation & maintenance team this team successfully
completed 35 conveyor installations, 19 conveyor retractions, 18 tripper
drive installations, 4 dewatering station installations& many other minor
contracts the success of this team lead to REB gaining long term
underground contracts to supply belt maintenance, road works, pump
maintenance & outbye services to Crinum mine.
From here in 2003 I went on to project manage shutdowns on wash plants
& draglines including the construction of new ROM’s at Peak downs &
Goonyella as well as the erection of the 8750 dragline for Newlands coal.
4. During My time with REB I also worked as an estimator, relief manager
& project planner.
2005 to 2006 DGH Engineering
Project Manager, Capcoal Bundoora project - Assisted in design of
conveyor system from underground face to stockpile. Supervised the
salvage of equipment from Central Colliery. Organized the refurbishment
and upgrade of equipment. Supervised the installation of conveyor
equipment at the new Bundoora mine. This project included the
relocation of the 80 ton stacking conveyor gantry from Central to
Bundoora, for this task I wrote the scope, conducted the risk assessments,
organized & supervised all cranes and heavy transporters, organized the
design, fabrication and supervised the installation of the new support
column. This project went extremely well with zero incidents.
2006 to 2007 Thomas & Coffey
Field services manager, estimating, business development and site
supervision.
Managed Lake Lindsay mine raw water reticulation project consisting of
clearing route, installing trenching and install 22 kilometers of 200mm
poly water main, installation of pump station, raw water dam transfer
pumping system, tanks, truck wash bay, several creeks and roads had to
be crossed.
2007 to 2008 Continental Conveyors
Site manager at Cloud break mine overseeing the installation of reclaim
conveyor system that included installing 7500 ton/hr conveyor, 4 by 200
ton dump hoppers, 4 chain feeders, tilt slab manufacture and erection,
haul truck approach roads, apron slabs around hoppers built on stabilized
earth works and haul truck control traffic light system.

Contracted to BMA Geological services as principle safety adviser for
their exploration drilling activities in the Bowen basin. Development of
site audit tools. Developed and implemented the traffic management
standard and traffic management tools. Completed audits on contractors
against the BMA contractor management system. Facilitated project
risk assessments.
7. 2013 DGH engineering
Project manager for Marian sugar mill boiler 3 economizer installation.
Responsible for the daily running of all site activities, (Boilermakers,
Fitters, Riggers, tube welders) scheduling, planning and reporting.
2014 Universal services international
Project manager for Sunwater contract, removal of debris and general
clean-up of flood damaged infrastructure along the Burnett river
including the river barrage. Ned Churchward, Claude Wharton and Kirar
weirs. Responsible for the daily management of USI and subcontractor
work force, risk assessments and development of the safe work method
statements, ensuring compliance with the safety management plan,
planning and scheduling of work, ordering materials and approval of
invoices.
8. 2014 DGH engineering
Installation of Mackay sugar’s import/export molasses facility comprising
the excavation and installation of all concrete foundations. The
excavation forming and concreting of the pump house pit (pit floor was 4
mtrs below ground level) The installation of the weigh bridge, molasses
trough, pumps and pipe work within the pump house and the installation
of 710 and 500 diameter poly pipe lines for the transfer of molasses from
trucks to storage bladder and from bladder to ship. Installation of the
pump house, approach and departure Roads, subsoil drainage, signs,
sump pumps, air and water reticulation and electrical conduits.
2014/2015 Hail creek mine
Site Supervisor/ Safety adviser for RIO (Orebody Knowledge Australia)
on the 2014 Hail Creek exploration program. This program was
completed Christmas 2014 having drilled 38 holes which included holes
for fault delineation, Coal quality cores, Vertical variability and plug
drilling On completion of the exploration program I was transferred
across to the Gas pilot program in January 2015 as field Supervisor/
Safety adviser/ Trainer this program included vertical and inseam drilling,
installation of well heads, well pumps, gas and water piping, tanks, flare
stacks & water transfer pumps.
