SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE PARTNER
HUMAN NUTRITION -
A CRUCIAL CHALLENGE
FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW
To meet the challenges of a growing worldwide population, we need agricultural
production that is nutritious, diversified and efficient. This can only be achievable if we
produce more and in a sustainable way.
Agro-supplies make a crucial contribution to this new food reality by providing farms
with solutions to increase yields and get the most from their land and new crops.
By paying close attention to the needs of plants and soil and ensuring they are continually
in balance, we are working towards abundant, healthy crops.
Livestock must also have their health needs properly managed; this requirement is
highlighted by the quality demands placed on agribusiness, reflecting today’s consumer
industry.
TIMAC AGRO, FROM SAINT-MALO
TO INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS:
A SUCCESS STORY
Founded by Daniel Roullier, Timac started out in 1959 on the docks of Saint-Malo (in France) as a supplier of
marine limestone, a substance used since the dawn of time by the region’s farmers as a soil conditioner. This
marked the start of the Roullier Group’s adventure in Agro-supplies.
Over the years, the group developed ambitiously by acquiring new companies within the agricultural sector.
The business model was new, focusing on supporting and advising customers on their specific needs. In order
to increase its strength, the Agro-supplies business broadened and improved the range of solutions it sold. It
concentrated on all forms of ecosystem-based fertilization (solid, liquid and water soluble) and animal feed.
The business growth dynamic took on a new dimension when the Group began to expand internationally. In
line with market expectations, the Group gradually extended to establish production facilities around Western
and Eastern Europe, then in South America.
This approach made the Roullier Group a leader in the technical fertilizers market, supported by a network of
subsidiaries, established in 42 countries. These agro-supplies businesses are now mainly grouped under the
Timac Agro banner, sharing the common values of innovation, proximity to customers and responsiveness that
built the success of their model.

SUSTAINABLE
AGRICULTURE
THROUGH INNOVATION
The Roullier Group is one of the few global players in
plant and animal nutrition that has its own laboratories
and research teams. This provides Timac Agro with the
backing to commit to solutions of excellence, designed
to meet the challenges faced by world agriculture.
EFFECTIVE,
CUTTING EDGE EXPERTISE
Our Research & Development department strives every day to address
the concerns of farmers worldwide when developing new products.
The 400 Roullier Group researchers and innovation engineers work
with experts and renowned universities from around the world to
achieve excellence. Together they work on molecules from algae, plants
and from the organic matter in soil in order to offer specific, high-added
value products.
Our Research & Development enables professionals in the agricultural industry to take advantage of key
progress in the Agro-supplies field. This capacity for innovation is made possible thanks to joint work involving
our scientists, our sales teams and our customers.
Timac Agro just follows one golden rule: address the concerns of customers when developing products. Staying
close to its customers enables it to tackle local problems.
Our Research & Development department is built on the expertise from our own laboratories. To strengthen
this commitment, the Roullier Group is currently building a Global Research and Development Centre that will
house, in 2015, the entire Group’s innovation lifeblood.
A total of 8,000m2
of floor space devoted to research, comprising laboratories and planted greenhouses
covering 800 m2
and equipped with the latest technology. The Centre is a worldwide showcase for the
Group’s Research & Development, providing engineers and researchers with outstanding resources to bring
the Group’s ambition to fruition: continually providing products that better meet our customers’ requirements.
Aims:
To develop and gain approval for new, specific features,
adapted to the needs of farmers,
To anticipate changes in the market,
To enhance the value of natural land and marine resources,
	 To adopt environmentally-friendly solutions.

SERAPIS:
Optimizing plants’ sulphur intake
A major element in plant nutrition, sulphur, works directly on plant yields and their intrinsic and
organoleptic qualities. With the first symptoms of sulphur deficiency appearing in recent years,
the SERAPIS project aims to optimize sulphur nutrition in cultivated plants, especially for large-
scale and specialist crops.
It aims to develop:
- innovative fertilizer containing a sulphur absorption activator
- sulphur fertilisation indicators
- decision-making aids for farmers enabling them to manage sulphur content in real time.
Confirmation of product performance through full-field agricultural
trials ensures profitability for our customers.
UPHOLDING
OUR INDUSTRIAL
EXCELLENCE
With industry in its blood, Timac Agro’s heritage is at the
heart of its business. 49 Industrial facilities have been
established throughout the world, accounting for
the production of 5 million tons of granular products and
15 million litres of liquid fertilizers.
In order to provide ever more effective solutions, Timac Agro industrial
facilities have introduced a scheme for continual improvement,
investment and technical progress that optimises the range on offer in
each market.
The quality scheme also complies with the group’s Health, Safety and
Environmental policy.
Furthermore, all factories are introducing voluntary quality standard
compliance certification schemes for each country. In this way we
undertake to guarantee the management of raw materials as well as
the quality, traceability and safety of finished products.
The CERA (Centre for Studies and Applied Research):
a tool for improving industrial performance
Through its desire to develop its industrial capital, the Roullier Group has created a powerful tool
to assist all its subsidiaries: the Centre for Studies and Applied Research (CERA).
It brings specialist technical and scientific skills together to promote industrial processes and
investments. It has an integrated analytical laboratory and pilot plant that ensure responsiveness
and quality.
Our aims:
To improve safety in the workplace,
To guarantee the quality of our range,
To maintain our high level of performance in
the environmental management of our sites.
Aims:
	 To develop new processes,
	 To test manufacturing parameters,
To assist in completing industrial facilities,
	 To audit existing sites,
	 To spread good practices.
A CONTINUAL
QUEST
FOR QUALITY
TARGETED
GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION
Timac Agro has a duty to meet the continual need for innovation and responsiveness in our markets; the
strategic geographical location of each production facility makes this possible.
The plants were located with geographical proximity in mind, not only to farms, but also to raw material
extraction sites.
This helps Timac Agro optimize logistical flows and their associated costs.
The diversity of our range (soil conditioners, powdered and granular technical fertilizers, biostimulants, etc.)
requires an industrial structure and expertise that has been developed in our 49 industrial facilities.
The flexibility of our organization and industrial processes enables us to manufacture 200 different products
and demonstrates our ability to change and adapt.
As an example, in 2011, all our industrial facilities were fitted with an innovative technology enabling more
efficient granulation of nitrogenous fertilizers (N, NP, NK).
Our model leads to improved product quality, productivity gains, energy savings and easier operations.
FLEXIBLE, MODERN
AND COMPETITIVE PRODUCTION
CONTRIBUTING
IN-THE-FIELD EXPERTISE
TO HIGH ADDED
VALUE PRODUCTS
The Roullier Group has created its own sales model based
on a local approach and and consultancy work.
This model, as used by Timac Agro, is unique
in the Agro-supplies sector.
Our slogan: close to the land and to each other.
Timac Agro promotes close relationships with farmers and their
distributors (co-operatives and specialist wholesalers). This closeness
provides our customers with greater responsiveness and flexibility.
Every day, more than 2,000 Technical Sales Agents (ATC), with
their expert knowledge in plant and animal nutrition, go out and
meet farmers and breeders to provide innovative, tailor-made
recommendations. This means that over 15,000 farms are visited
every day around the world.
Soil analysis and the assessment of crops and livestock enable our
teams to recommend solutions to suit local markets that optimize
effectiveness and agricultural businesses.
