-1How I Edited My Video and Why I Chose To Do So.
Shot 1: The video starts with a cross dissolve from black onto the first image
of a white door. For this shot I changed the lighting effects so that there is a
kind of spot light in the middle of the screen. This highlights the main
character when the door opens. This light is symbolic of the fact she is an
attractive young girl and the audience are yet to view her true character.
Shot 2: The next shot is of the main character in the future beaten up. We
changed the lighting on this image as we found it was a bit dark when we
filmed it. We used the tool “lighting effects” and highlighted the features on her
face. We also added a dark border around her. This effect symbolises what is
yet to come and shows that she has a dirtier character that is yet to be seen.
Shot 3: This shot is of the main character picking out some clothes. We again
used the same lighting effects as shot 1 to highlight the main character.
Shot 4: Same as shot 2 – image of the main character’s face, pans down from
eyes to mouth. Extreme close up.
Shot 5: Here the same lighting effect as shot 1 is used – image of the main
character taking off her dressing gown.
Shot 6: This is a similar shot to shot 2 however we felt we did not need to
change the lighting. However we did use the dark border for the same effect.
Shot 7: Same as Shot 1 – Main character adjusting her dress, we used the
“fast blur” effect at the end of the shot as the singing starts.
Shot 8: Omni lighting effect used her to spread light over both the main
character and singer. We felt the shot looked a bit dark. This lighting effect
also focuses the attention of the viewer.
Shot 9: mid shot of the singer, no effects were used.
Shot 10: Extreme close up of main character putting blusher on. Again Omni
lighting effect used.
Shot 11: Extreme close up of singer – no effect used.
Shot 12: Same as shot 8.
Shot 13: Same as shot 11.
Shot 14: Same as shot 9.
Shot 15: Same as shot 8.
Shot 16: Same as shot 11.
Shot 17: Extreme close up of main character – no effects used.
Shot 18: Same effects used at shot 8.
Shot 19: Main character walking towards the door – Omni lighting effect used
to highlight the main character.
Shot 20: Same as shot 10.
Shot 21: Main character leaving her room – same effect used at shot 19.
Shot 22: Singer standing behind character as she walks down the stairs – no
effect used.
Shot 23: Same as shot 22.
Shot 24: Same as shot 22.
Shot 25: Same as shot 22.
Shot 26: When we captured this shot we felt the image was very orange so
we manually changed the colour balance until we were happy.
Shot 27: Singer singing as main character walks down corridor to leave house
– no effects used.
Shot 28: Same as shot 27.
Shot 29: Same as shot 27.
Shot 30: Same as shot 27.
Shot 31: Mid shot of singer – No effects used.
Shot 32: Extreme close up of main character – No effects used.
Shot 33: Mid shot of singer – No effects used.
Shot 34: Extreme close up of main character – No effects used.
Shot 35: Mid shot of singer – No effects used.
Shot 36: close up of main character – No effects used.
Shot 37: Same as shot 6 – Flash back adds anticipation for the audience as
they know something is going to happen. This is called dramatic irony.
Shot 38: Extreme close up of singer – No effects used.
Shot 39: Extreme close up of main character – No effects used.
Shot 40: For this shot we put an extreme close up of the main character
underneath a mid shot of the singer and then changed the opacity of this
singer shot. This effect emphasised the fact the singer was narrating the main
character’s story. At the end of this shot we used the “cross dissolve” tool
which represented the change between this scene and the next shot of the
drummer of the band.
Shot 41: The cross dissolve effect carries onto this shot but apart from that no
other effects are used.
Shot 42: No effect used.
Shot 43: No effect used.
Shot 44: No effect used.
Shot 45: No effect used.
Shot 46: No effect used.
Shot 47: No effect used.
Shot 48: No effect used.
Shot 49: The next shot is of a close up of the bass guitar halfway through this
shot the screen splits as we have used the mirror tool. This effect gave the
impression of two guitars and was dramatic. It also represented the fact the
band is up to date and cool as well as looking good. No other effects were
used.
Shot 50: No effect used.
Shot 51: No effect used.
Shot 52: No effect used.
Shot 53: For the next shot of the guitar playing we use the tool “horizontal flip”
on the beat of the music. This just adds dramatic effect and gives the
audience something more interesting to look at. Again it also makes the band
look up to date and contemporary.
Shot 54: A mid shot of the drummer, at the end of this shot we used the
dissolve tool again so that they audience could see the transition between the
story and the band playing, and as of yet have no connection apart from the
singer.
Shot 55: Main character with a man – we added a border above this to show
this is apart of her dirtier and grittier character.
Shot 56: Main character with a man – we added a border above this to show
this is apart of her dirtier and grittier character.
Shot 57: Main character with a man – we added a border above this to show

Shot 59: Main character with a man – we added a border above this to show
this is apart of her dirtier and grittier character.
Shot 60: Main character with a man – we added a border above this to show
this is apart of her dirtier and grittier character.
Shot 61: Main character with a man – we added a border above this to show
this is apart of her dirtier and grittier character.
Shot 62: Main character with a man – we added a border above this to show

Shot 66: Main character with a man – we added a border above this to show
this is apart of her dirtier and grittier character.
Shot 67: Main character with a man – we added a border above this to show
this is apart of her dirtier and grittier character.
Shot 68: Main character with a man – we added a border above this to show
this is apart of her dirtier and grittier character.
Shot 69: Main character with a man – we added a border above this to show
this is apart of her dirtier and grittier character.
No other effects are used from now on bar when the main character pours
water into a girls bag we put this bit in slow motion as it is important the
viewer sees she hasn’t actually wet herself she was tricked. Also the main
character leaves the toilet and a cross dissolve is used between this shot and
a shot of the band. Also when the flash back sequence has finished and the
main character opens the door into the gig. These transitions symbolise a
change of scene and/or event. Also we used slow motion when she opens the
door and walks in. This effect fits with the music and builds tension for the
viewer as they know something important is going to happen. We also used
slow motion on two shots of the lead singer near the end. These shots are
close up and are almost a Mickey take of the lead singer. Finally at the end
we use superimposition again with the singer and the main character. This
ties the whole story together as the main character is seen from the beginning
putting her dress on. This flash back technique gives a dramatic effect to the
audience, it shows them that what this girl has done is wrong and there are
consequences for it. The final shots are of the first images of the main
character on the floor beaten up to resolve the story.
The main special effects we used were transitions, slow motion and effects on
the band. These all add a new style to the video and make it more interesting
for the viewer to watch.
