This document discusses an organization called CAW's choice to implement an open source virtualization platform called Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV). It describes CAW as a social work organization with 600 employees and 70 teams across 65 locations. Previously, CAW had separate Windows and Linux environments managed by different IT teams with different cultures. To integrate the platforms and lower costs, CAW worked with Kangaroot to implement RHEV. This would provide a single virtualized platform, reuse existing thin clients, reduce applications, and allow management with a small IT team using open source software. Key aspects of the new environment included virtualizing Windows apps in RHEV and migrating email to the open source Zimbra groupware
