2. OK SO HERE’S THE DEAL
• When I first considered my Philosophy of
Teachnology, it was basically this:
– “Technology can definitely enhance a student’s
learning experience, but it cannot and should not
replace the guidance and support of the teacher”.
• Having literally grown up with the internet,
this took little thought to process.
3. AND THEN THE SEMESTER HAPPENED
MY PHILOSOPHY THEN
MY PHILOSOPHY NOW
• “Technology can definitely
enhance a student’s learning
experience, but it cannot and
should not replace the guidance
and support of the teacher”.
• “Technology can definitely
enhance a student’s learning
experience, but it cannot and
should not replace the guidance
and support of the teacher”.
4. WAIT, WHAT?
• As I consider it more and more, I realize just how
overrated technology is in teaching.
• I have encountered an absolute plethora of apps
and other technologies meant for education. I
found in only a few of them any value when it
comes to helping students learn and retain
information.
– GEOGEBRA, STORYBIRD, ETC.
• Some make teaching easier, maybe, but not more
effective, like that horrifyingly stupid writing jar
app.
5. TECHNOLOGY AIN’T THAT BAD THO
• And it certainly is not. Please understand that
I am not technophobic.
• Apps like Storybirds do have actual value, and
actually enhance learning in students.
• Exploring concepts through student-created
stories is an AMAZING IDEA HOLY SHIT.
• ALSO DEM VISUALS.
6. TL;DR
• All teachnology has done is made me realize
the true value of a really, really good teacher.
One who is really passionate and interested
about their subject and ignites the same
passion and interest in their students. One
who can and will help students grow to
become decent, functional human beings.
That’s who I want to be as a teacher. Fuck
grades, and fuck money. I want to help
influence the future.
7. I WANT TO BE THIS RAD OF A TEACHER.
FUCKING RAINBOWS, MAN.
