An estimated 12.7 million new cancer cases were diagnosed worldwide in 2008, with lung, female breast, colorectal and stomach cancers accounting for more than 40% of cases. Worldwide, an estimated 7.6 million deaths from cancer occurred in 2008, with lung, stomach, liver, colorectal and female breast cancers causing over half of cancer deaths. The Singapore Cancer Society provides cancer treatment subsidies, financial aid, hospice and home care services, transportation assistance, rehabilitation support, cancer screening, research, and public education to cancer patients.
