Position : Started as a Clerk (1992) and promoted to the position of Senior Clerk
(1995) and later to the position of Administrative Assistant
(1998 - June 2001) in its busy Life Marketing Department.
Duties :
Responsible for Life Marketing Management of Information System in the following areas:
• Controlling the organization’s ten agencies country-wide in terms of complaint handling,
File Maintenance, Coordination and Processing of the Life Agents Payments, i.e. loans,
advances, commissions and competitions;
• Registration of the Agents with the Commissioner of Insurance;
• Controlling the Database pertaining to the Agency operation for the management decision-
making (Marketing Information System);
• Preparation of all the payments effected by the Marketing Department and dispatching of
the cheques with proper follow-up;
• Monitoring and Evaluation of the performance of the Agents and advising the Marketing
Manager what best action to be taken for improving the productivity;
• Approving the loans/advances requirements by the agents through analyzing the
productions trend and advising the Agency Managers accordingly;
• Coordinating with other departments in solving the Agents problems;
• Sorting out both Payslips and Commission Statements from Accounts Department for
onward transmission.
• Advising on and controlling the department’s stationery issuance and storage.
2. Vision Advisory Centre
This is an organization registered under the NGO Coordination Bureau Act (1990) charged with the
responsibility of educating and training workers about the HIV/AIDS scourge as well as harmonizing the
relationship between workers, Trade Unions and Employers through facilitation by employers and well-
wishers, in order to improve productivity.
Position : Project Program Coordinator – Nairobi Area.

3. Narc Labour Congress
This was the Labour Department in the Secretariat of the then ruling National Rainbow Coalition
(NARC). It came into being in order to help the government solve the by then rampant industrial labour
unrest that had affected the manufacturing sector during the eve of taking over of the government. Many
organizations were victims of the employees’ go-slow for various industrial reasons and hence there was a
need for the party to have this department to supplement the Ministry of Labour in Conflict Resolutions.

4. Kenya Integrated Household Budget Survey (KIHBS)
This was a key component of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics Strategic Plan, whose aim was to
provide numerous indicators for the formulation, monitoring and evaluation of key social and economic
variables for the country at large.
Objectives
• Measure and monitor living standards and the welfare of Kenyans;
• Development of an Urban and Rural Consumer Price Index (CPI);
• Compile National Accounts;
• Identification of Social and Economic factors that affect living standards and National
Development.
Position : Research Assistant (Data Entry Personnel).
Period of engagement : May 2005 to June 2006.
Enumeration Area : Suba District.
DUTIES:
• Monitor Interviewers’ performance with the aim of improving and maintaining the quality of data
collected;
• Edit all completed questionnaires in the field;
• Conduct regular review sessions with each Interviewer and advise them on any problems found in their
questionnaires from a sample area;
• Capturing the Data in the designated software program;
• Collaborate with Team Leader to regularly send completed Questionnaires and Progress Reports to the
Central Office and keep the Headquarters informed of the Team’s location within the Enumeration
Area;
• Participate in Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) for the administration of the Community
Questionnaires.
Output:

The survey provided the government with a 300-page Basic Report that forms a basis for evidence-based
policy making and further research for formulation of appropriate policies for enhancing the welfare of
Kenyans.
4. Kibera Slums Community Development Program (KISCODEP)
This is a local NGO registered in 2007 by the NGO Coordination Board and whose main objective is to promote
and improve living standards of the poor within the larger Kibera Slums through establishing sector-specific
programs geared towards community development. Current activities are: Micro Finance, promotion of Early
Childhood Education and Development (ECD), ICT Education (Computer Training & E-Learning), Support and
Care for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), Home-Based Care for HIV/AIDS victims.

Period of engagement : October 2006 to date
DUTIES:
• Offers leadership for the required management standards within the organization.
• Secretary to the Board of Directors.
• Oversees the Financial Management within the organization.
• Direct communication with the foreign partners for the benefit of the organization.
• Oversees both Administrative and Field Logistical Support to both the Management Team and Foreign
Field Researchers in the country.
5. Ministry of Tourism: Domestic Tourism Households Survey: Inbound/Outbound Tourism Survey
(Tourism Satellite Account)
This is carried out every month of April, August and December, every year for the Ministry of Tourism in
collaboration with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics for the implementation of the Tourism Satellite
Account (TSA) which is a United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) recommended framework
for capturing tourism data in measuring the contribution of tourism to the national economy and in designing
policies, development planning and marketing strategies for the sector.

Period of engagement : Every time it is carried out since April 2009.
Enumeration Areas : As assigned every time by the government, i.e. at the entry/exit points
at the National Borders, International Airports etc.
6. Interim Independent Electoral Commission (Kenya) (IIEC)
This was the body that was formed to replace the Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK) after the post-election
violence in 2007 to oversee the electoral processes in the country. It is the body that was in charge of National
Referendum for constitution making that was held on 4th
August 2010, in which I participated as a Senior
Referendum Official.

OTHER EXTRA SKILLS ACQUIRED • Attended a Workshop for Labour Relations at Tom Mboya Labour College, Kisumu in 2000 in my capacity as the Chairman of All Shop Stewards Committee in Insurance industry, being sponsored by COTU (the Trade Union). • Attended the Ethics and Information Management Workshop on 11th March 2000 organized by Information Technology Centre (Strathmore University), where I acquired the following skills:- • Ethical Issues in IT • Computer Security • Computer Management • Acquired a Certificate after participating in In-House Training Programme for Customer Care, organized by the employer (Jubilee Insurance Co. LEADERSHIP TRAITS • Have been the Shop Steward and the Chairman of All Shopstewards Committee in the Insurance Industry between 1999 and 2001. • Between 1998 and 2001, I was the Secretary and a member of the Management Committee of Jumbo Sacco, an organization whose members were the employees of the mother organization, the Jubilee Insurance Co Ltd. The Sacco was by then handling capital of over Kshs. 20 million with membership of over 400. • Church Shepherd at a Nairobi Church • Currently I am the Secretary General of the Community Welfare Organization in Nairobi – Wando Welfare Association responsible for spearheading the Development Agenda in the Community. • Currently, am a member of School Board of Management at the prestigious Olympic Primary School, a school housing approximately 3500 pupils.
