HEALOGICS RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to providing staff, equipment and business support, Healogics’ responsibilities for
performance span four primary areas:
While Healogics takes the lead role for care in every Wound Care Center®, achieving
success is ultimately a shared responsibility. When all parties execute to the best of their
abilities, we’re able to realize exceptional outcomes with chronic wound patients while
reducing the impact on care resources.
SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES
Healogics and the Hospital:
Shared responsibilities for wound care success
Wound
care skills
Clinical
practice
guidelines
Community
wound care
Clinical practice
benchmarking
Every Healogics Wound Care Center is staffed with
highly trained wound care experts. Whether
employed by Healogics or the hospital,
Healogics manages recruiting, and
training for each wound care
professional who joins the core
team so that all contribute fully
to the highest level
of wound care.
Healogics marshals and organizes
evidence-based best practices for
wound care clinical practice
guidelines that promote uniform
clinical excellence. We developed
these clinical practice guidelines
with an exhaustive review
of more than 2,500
peer-reviewed articles,
and continuously monitor
wound care resources
to incorporate the
latest advances.
Healogics is unique
in its ability to
deliver expert chronic
wound care across a
community’s inpatient
and post-acute settings.
Wound care experts in all
locations have access to the
same set of evidence-based
clinical guidelines, providing uniform
quality and clinical excellence
throughout the care continuum.
Healogics maintains the
industry’s largest wound
care database. In addition
to driving our expertise,
we leverage this database to
measure the wound care team’s
adherence to clinical practice guidelines
with objective data that promotes accountability.

HOSPITAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Hospitals partner with Healogics to ensure Wound Care Center® success
in three key areas:
1. FACILITIES SUPPORT. The Wound Care Center® needs furniture, supplies and space.
The space allotted to the center must be adequate, not just for chronic wound cases that
exist today, but also for growth as our visibility increases throughout the community.
2. PAYER SUPPORT. The hospital’s negotiated contracts with payers should extend to
wound care. With Healogics' support, the hospital, is responsible for managing revenue
cycles to optimize financial outcomes for the Wound Care Center®.
3.ACCESS TO STAFF FOR TRAINING. Optimal wound care requires a level of understanding
among clinicians not directly employed in the Wound Care Center®. While the effort is
not time-intensive, clinicians who contribute to wound care success must be available for
periodic wound care training.
POSITIONED FOR VALUE-BASED CARE
Healogics Wound Care Centers® provide care to many patients whose chronic wounds are the result
of underlying chronic illness. As these patients are significant per-capita consumers of care resources,
healing them can simultaneously lower the cost of care while improving the health and quality of life
of populations that are the primary focus of value-based care.
The Healogics approach to focused, skilled wound care consistently delivers superior outcomes at
predictable costs. This will likely be increasingly important in the transition from fee-for-service to value-
based care. Simply put, better healing is better value.
