- 17. Community rights happening all around you……. Green Valley Grocer, in West Yorkshire closed, the community raised £18,000 selling £10 shares to the community. The new shop opened six weeks after the old shop closed. Oxford, Manchester United and Liverpool FC: listed Hastings Pier - community has listed the asset and is using community shares to take ownership. Whitstable Harbour Trust: propose to use the community right to challenge to run the harbour on behalf of the council; any surplus going back to the community In Nunhead south London, local residents listed The Ivy House as a Community Asset, then used community shares to raise the money to buy it! Haverhill Neighbourhood Community Budget: working with local business to deliver local jobs for young people through apprenticeships and training
