Companies that are all about maintaining the status quo should have a door mat outside their office asking all employees to leave their creativity outside on the mat before they come in.
Most people come to work with a host of ideas about how they can improve their job and at the same time improve the company they work for. They might have an idea about saving costs or saving waste, an idea on how to improve something, ideas on how to reach new customers or even an idea for a new breakthrough product or service but if all you are interested in is maintaining the status quo you’ll never know because they will have left them outside on the mat.
If you don’t think your organisation is very innovative is it really because you don’t employ innovative people or is it because you stifle innovation?
You then need to create an environment where people feel safe to share their thoughts, their hunches or even their half-baked ideas and let other people add to them, refine them and turn them into workable solutions.
If it sounds hard – it really isn’t. To start making your organisation more innovative just say ‘Yes’ to our invitation to meet up for a cup of coffee and let us show you how easy it can be.

Alternatively you could say ‘No’ and we’ll add our good ideas to the pile of others sitting on the mat outside your office.
