BASS TOURNAMENT, April 9:
Angler's are invited to compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes where total weight of five fish maximum wins at the April 9th Bass
Tournament. The catch and release tournament starts at daybreak and goes thru 11 a.m. Location for the tournament has been moved
from Pine view Lake (Pond 1) to Metz Pond (Pond 26) on Fort Stewart (off Hwy 144 West toward Glennville). Maximum boat entry
is 15 boats (2 people per boat). Regular registration is ongoing till April 8, and late registration April 9. There are two fees categories:
(1st category) Active Duty Soldiers, Family Members, Retirees, Army Civilians and (2nd category) civilians. All anglers must have

Georgia’s largest musical arts festival and one of the most distinctive cross-genre festivals in the world. Presents commissioned works,

HISTORY of a Twilight Tattoo:
“Twilight Tattoo” is a time-honored tradition that blends the precision and discipline of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old
Guard) with the orchestral sounds of The U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own.”
The history of Twilight Tattoo began more than 300 years ago as British troops were summoned from the warmth and hospitality of
local pubs by a bugle and drum call to return to the barracks. The familiar tune told tavern owners “doe den tap toe,” or “time to turn
off the taps.” The troops knew the call to mean “taps off,” and minutes later they were back in their tents.
The modern-day call is known as “Tattoo” and during basic training the call signals the time to quiet down and hit the bunks. For the
U.S. Army Military District of Washington (MDW), the call serves as a tribute dedicated to the vitality of our nation and to the
sacrifices of those who forged America into the land of the free and the home of the brave. It is for our forefathers and fellow
Americans that MDW proudly presents “Twilight Tattoo.”
The U.S. Army Military District of Washington (MDW) Twilight Tattoo can trace its own history back to the years before World War
II. At that time, on the grounds of Fort Myer in Arlington, Va., the 3rd Cavalry Regiment held military shows during the winter
months. The Military District of Washington revived the traditional show in 1961 to showcase the talents of its ceremonial units.
As Twilight Tattoo grew in popularity, the Army adapted the show, its location and the time of year it was performed to fit the
growing needs of the American people. Settling on performances in Washington, D.C., throughout the summer months, has allowed
for thousands of audience members to experience the ceremony and pageantry of the United States Army.

FRG Meeting Extended Care
Beginning 18 April 2011, Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will be doing extended care FRG meetings only on Tuesdays and
Thursdays. Anyone needing these services will need to contact their FRSA to make sure childcare is provided.
Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will no longer provide the extended care on Mon-days and Wednesdays. Please call 315-5425.
Spring Education Forums at HAAF
The purpose of this forum is to allow Soldiers, Family Members and Educators to articulate issues and offer suggestions about the
education of military connected students will be held from 0830-1245 on 26 April at the Hunter Club. The forum focuses on the
educational needs of students enrolled in public, private and DoDEA schools. Parents are needed to discuss issues and possible
solutions in proactive, upbeat discussion groups. Those who cannot be at the forum can make comments and suggestions through the
School Liaison Offices web site link found on the lower left-hand side of the Team Stewart home page. Parents also can contact the
School Liaison Office’s at 912- 315-6586 (Hunter) to sign up as participants. Concerns and suggestions produced by the HAAF forum
will be presented to area school system superintendents at the close of this event.

A Doorway to a Child’s Self Esteem Project is sponsored in part by the Arts Ashore Legacy Fund c/o The Savannah Community

Soles 4 Souls One Walk
On May 14, people are rallying across the country to walk or run for children in need around the world. You can walk on your own,
with a team or start your own team for the OneWalk mission. 100% net revenue from the registration fee is dedicated to helping
deliver shoes to one of the 300 million children and untold adults around the world without shoes. Every dollar
raised provides one pair of shoes. How does it work? Well, OneWalk is your walk: you decided where; you decide how long.
Invited friends and start a team, get co-workers together or just hit the road by yourself. It doesn’t matter. It’s all
for the shoes anyways! How to get started: Individuals can register by visiting
www.soles4souls.org/get_involved/onewalk.html. Decide where and how long you want to walk for. Let us know
you are on board by visiting our Facebook tab and write on our wall. You’ll receive a registration package with a
custom t-shirt and other gift in the mail, three weeks prior to the walk day. Individual registration is $25. Teams

FREE ACS SELF DEFENSE CLASS
April 18: The Army Community Service Family Advocacy Program will conduct a free Self Defense Class for women, ages 18 and
up, in honor of April’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month. It will be held on Fort Stewart at Caro Gym 9 a.m. to Noon, April 2; and at
Tominac Fitness Center 6-8:30 p.m. Apr. 18 on Hunter Army Airfield. To find out about all upcoming events and classes, contact

SABAN MILITARY WIFE EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP OFFERED:
Operation Homefront is awarding 22 scholarships totaling up to $237,500. They are offered to wives of uniformed service members to
attend various vocational training programs in the medical field. The awards will be based on the applicant's response to the essay
question and her commitment to volunteerism. Applications will be accepted starting March 1. Applications must be postmarked no

April 15th is approaching quickly!
HAAF Tax Office
Marne Tax Centers are Open: The Marne Tax Centers at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield are
open now through April 15. The center is open to Active Duty Soldiers, Family Members, and
retirees. The tax center provides FREE tax preparation services for both Federal and State returns. The

4. tax preparers are IRS trained and certified and ready to prepare your returns. Taxpayers should bring ALL required documentation to
the tax center, including any W2s, 1099s, 1098s, etc. They should also bring their military ID and a copy of their Social Security card
or a memo from the Social Security Administration for the taxpayer, the spouse, and any dependents. Space is limited at the tax center
facility. Returns can be prepared while you wait or as a drop-off; in each case, you will need to bring all documents and be in-
processed by our staff. Drop-off returns may take 3-4 business days to process and you will need to return to the tax center to sign
your return before it can be filed. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Staffing may be limited during the lunch
period from 11:45 to 12:30. There are two locations: Fort Stewart: Bldg. 709 (next to Popeyes) and HAAF: Bldg. 1211 (Legal

5. Resumix (Insider's Tips) for Federal Jobs- Learn how to input your resume in the Federal government’s electronic resume
system, search for jobs, and track the status of your application. Participants will also learn strategies on how to maximize the
effectiveness of their resumes.
FRG Treasurer Training (Basic and Advanced) - This all day training event that will cover Basic and Advanced FRG
Treasurer and Funds Training. Topics will include regulatory guidance, setting up an FRG Informal Fund account, and commanders
responsibilities. Advanced training will detail the supplemental FRG fund account and how to access and prepare for the yearly funds
audit. Training is designed for FRG Treasurers, Commanders, Rear D Commanders, and Advisors.
Module 1 Resilience (Units 1 & 2) - Resiliency Training is to assist Family Members to become more resilient and to able to
face adversity. Module 1, Units 1 & 2- Unit 1, Resilience is an overview of the entire MRT course. Self-awareness, Self-regulation,
Optimism, Mental Agility, Strengths of Character, and Connection are competencies that contribute to resilience. Unit 2, Hunt the
Good Stuff, helps you notice positive experiences in order to enhance gratitude and positivity and enable optimism.
Module 2 Building Mental Toughness (Unit 1) - Module 2, Unit 1- The ATC Model- Activating Events, Thoughts and
Consequences: Resiliency Training to assist Family Members to become more resilient and to able to face adversity. This unit helps
you to identify your thoughts about an event and the consequences of those thoughts so you can have greater control over your
emotions and reactions.
Module 2 Building Mental Toughness (Units 2 & 3) - Module 2, Units 2 & 3- Avoid Thinking Traps and Detecting
Icebergs: Resiliency Training is to assist Family Members to become more resilient and to able to face adversity. These units help you
to identify and correct counterproductive patterns in thinking through the use of critical questions. It also helps you to identify deep
beliefs and core values that fuel out-of proportion emotion and evaluate the accuracy and usefulness of these beliefs.
Financial Planning for PCS- Ease the financial burden of your next move! Learn how to plan for the expenses of a move while
trying to keep up with your normal bills before, during, and after a Permanent Change of Station (PCS). We can help you avoid some
of the pitfalls associated with moving. Participants will also learn about their entitlements and military benefits to help with the PCS.
Before Baby Arrives- This is a course designed to foster strong bonds between both parents and their unborn child. It course also
gives pregnant women the tools to have a healthy lifestyle and ultimately, a healthy baby.
Infant Care- Are you a parent with a newborn? This hands-on workshop will provide and strengthen basic skills that are vital for
newborn care.
Hearts Apart- This is a support group for any Spouse of a Soldier deployed on a remote assignment far from home. Children are
welcome to participate or just come to have fun!
Living On A Plan: How to Create a Budget That Works- Are you out of money before or shortly after getting paid?
This class will walk you through the steps of how to create and maintain a personal budget that will really work for you. When you
leave the class, you will be able to evaluate your present financial situation, establish personal/family goals, and develop a personal
financial plan just for your life.
FRG Key Caller Training- Designed for new or seasoned FRG Key Callers, this training covers Key Caller duties,
communicating with Family Members, dispelling rumors, handling crisis calls, and how the Key Caller fits into a successful Family
Readiness Group.
Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself/Key to Managing Stress- This full day workshop teaches the skills to
identify your stress triggers and methods to manage your emotions. Also, participants will learn positive communication techniques
for dealing with anger and stress.
The Five Love Languages -This two-part class for couples teaches practical ways to communicate their love to their spouse.
Start by learning the five "love languages" and then identify your own love language style and that of your partner Once you have
determined your individual love-language styles, your relationship can be enriched by practicing communicating in your partner's love
language.

6. Foreign-Born Spouses Support Group- Members from various cultures and countries join other spouses to network, discuss
the American way of life, develop friendships, and learn about the many resources available to make your new life experience
positive.
4 Steps to a Better Job- This class covers the critical parts of the job search to include self assessment, resume writing (civilian
and federal styles), interviewing, and job search techniques.
Keeping Your Bank Account in Check- Do you find yourself in the hole with your account month after month due to all of
the fees that the bank charges you? You will leave this class with the skills and a working knowledge of: how to select a financial
institution to meet personal needs, using ATM and debit cards, the consequences of non-sufficient fund (NSF) checks, overdraft
protection, and planning and implementing separate Family financial accounts for such situations as deployments and TDYs.
Overseas Briefings: Alaska & Hawaii- Learn about your new duty station, receive a packet of information, and learn about
services to help make your move a smooth one. Family Members are highly encouraged to attend with their Soldier.
Interviewing Workshop- Do you know the proper way to prepare yourself for a job interview? This class offers helpful
information on how to prepare and conduct yourself during and after an interview. A mock interview will also be given by local area
employer.
Newcomer's Windshield Bus Tour- Take a tour of HAAF and learn about your new community and the many programs &
services available to you. Bus departs from the ACS-Hunter, Bldg. 1286.
Baby Bootcamp for Dads- Dads challenge the stereotype by joining this interactive class for men who are expecting a baby or
have children up to age 2. This is also a great way to network with other fathers, build confidence in your ability to parent, and
enhance your nurturing side.
Families Achieving Communication Tactics for Success (F.A.C.T.S.) Workshop- This communication workshop
for couples is to reinforce listening skills, identifies barriers that hinder communication, the examines the effects of nonverbal
messages, and more.

Every Wednesday, HAAF Chapel Youth Ministry Club Beyond Meetings 6 pm – 8 pm at the Religious Education Center.
This is a weekly Club meeting for middle and high school aged military youth to plan activities, have fun and learn positive lessons
based on basic Ministry Principles. The meeting will start in the Chapel Fellowship Hall with a dinner provided by the Chapel Staff
and then the teenagers will move to the Religious Education Center adjacent to the Chapel. CLUB BEYOND is an Ecumenical

Every 3rd Wednesday of each Month, Military Council of Catholic Women 6 pm, Religious Education Center, Bldg #129.
The MCCW is a gathering of Roman Catholic Women as they follow a series of prayers and readings. They discuss and share their
thoughts and ideas in reference to that week’s choice. They share in a meal provided by the Catholic Community. Material and
supplies are provided. Childcare is also provided for infants to 4 years old. The women are invited to attend Southeast and National
Conferences. They plan yearly retreats and collect donations for the needy and the less fortunate. For more information, please

HAAF Protestant Women of the Chapel (PWOC) Bible Study. Every Thursday, from 10:00- Noon. At the HAAF Chapel
Sanctuary. All Women of the Hunter AAF Community are welcome to attend! This year’s PWOC International Theme is “Shine in

Family Child Care Homes (FCC)
Ages served: 4 weeks - 12 years
Army Family Child Care Homes (FCC) are available both on- and off-post through childcare providers who are independent
contractors certified through extensive on-going training and monitoring by the Army. FCC Homes provide full-day, part-day and
hourly care for children in a home environment where children can develop motor, cognitive, social and emotional skills through a
balance of exploration and planned curriculum. Learning activities are designed to support the natural development of children and
include individual and small group experiences.
