1. Cover story Jina Doo
After graduating from college, I worked in service-related industries such as airlines and the hotel
industry. I strongly believe that serving other people is the most important goal in my life. I have been pursuing the
perfect service level based on my knowledge of hospitality management and my work experience.
I worked as a cabin attendant at Cathay Pacific Airline right after college graduation. The opportunity
allowed me to show myself as a gifted service agent. I felt great by helping passengers have a comfortable travel
experience. To be a reliable and friendly cabin attendant, I was trained in various skills like appearance, smiling,
and attitude. Furthermore, meeting people with diverse cultural backgrounds made me more understanding of
different cultures. It led me to acquire a cosmopolitan outlook and prepared me to work in international hotels in
the future.
Work experiences at international chain hotels like Ritz Carlton, Madison Plaza, and Hilton enabled me to
acquire valuable service skills. Specifically, I could provide personal service by anticipating customers’ needs,
achieving customer satisfaction through speedy and efficient service, and accessing different service styles for
different customers. I have learned that refined and attentive services for customers are always respected. Work
experience is an essential factor for strong competence in the hospitality industry since service satisfaction cannot
be evaluated objectively.
To reinforce the service skills I obtained from the work experience, I enrolled in the Hospitality
Management Master Course at Hanyang University. After finishing the course, I started teaching service skills and
hotel management curriculums to college students. The job had trained me intensely since it is required a lot of
responsibility. I worked hard to guide the students in the right direction.
Living in the United States for three and a half years was the perfect opportunity for me to not only
improves my English but to understand Western culture and its value. I learned more closely about the cultural
differences which I had not been able to experience before. However, I found out that warm hearted and genuine
service is the most powerful approach to everyone regardless of their region and race.
Working as a service provider to the customers is always thrilling to me. For now, I am working as the
executive assistant manager at Ramada Encore Seogwipo and Seogwipo East in Jeju, right after completing the
opening project in Ramda Gunsan. Before I joined the Ramada Hotel, I was responsible for reservation and
employee training at Best Western Premier Incheon Airport. I am very satisfied my job since it is related to
interaction with people actively. Furthermore, contributing myself to the hotel revenue makes me very proud as I
am strongly involved in yield management and the employees’ training programs along with rooms division
functions.
People living in this world are no longer strangers; we all influence each other in many ways. I have
confidence that providing warm and genuine service to my neighbors from other countries and fulfilling their
needs is my calling. I would like to help and serve other people with my abilities and will contribute my best to
your company.
