2. George Lucas in Love
This short film poster is a
different approach to most
normal film posters. The heads
are merged together with
presents some of the characters
we are introduced too, the use
of juxtaposition shows how the
main character is the man in the
glasses as he takes a central
place and is the largest, this also
suggest that the importance of
each character is presented in
their size.
The poster is also in a sketchy
colour with a cartoon feel.
The poster also features the
name of the short film on the
bottom of the page giving the
characters a central position.
3. I’m Here
This film poster features two
cartoons set onto a realistic
background, with what seems as two
main characters placed just above
the short film title along with the
strap line of ‘a love story..’ suggests
that they are both in love.
This poster is similar to the previous
short film poster as it has cartoony
features. This suggests that the
genre of the film is a cartoon
romance.
4. Across The Hall
This short film poster features a still
from the actual movie this helps to
show the tension that will be present
within the film. It also suggests that the
film is a horror/thriller genre as the man
against the wall is hiding from the man
in the hallway.
The poster also features the actors
names placed at the top which leaves a
large space for the still to show the
tension between the two characters,
also presenting the man against the wall
as the main character of the film. The
title of the film has been placed
dominantly in the middle of the page
and with a clever use of positioning of
the words create a sense of the hallway.
5. How short film posters differ from
mainstream feature film posters..
Short film posters differ to mainstream posters as the film makers are trying to reach
out to a smaller audience than mainstream films.
Mainstream film posters are generally a lot more glossy and editing compared to short
film posters which generally are made from stills from the film or edited to a lower
standard.
For example .
This example is the
difference between the
short film version and the
feature film, as you can
see the short film is a still
from the actual film and
the feature film is a lot
more edited and air
brushed and the feature
film is reaching out to a
wider audience.
6. Film Poster Examples: Horror
This is a typical horror
film poster, it doesn’t
show really any
explanation of what
could be happing in
the film. The title is
featured in the centre
of the poster
following a line that
suggests its horror
genre. The plain black
colour background
also suggests that it is
a horror film.
7. Romantic Comedy
This film posters
features two of the
main protagonists
dominating the poster,
the way in which the
actors look suggests
the film genre as they
are both smiling and
have chemistry
between each other.
The film title is also in
different fonts which
shows the films fun
nature.
