Step three: Make a disaster kit: pack water, food, batteries, portable radios, flashlights, 1st aid kit, money, a whistle, extra medicines and a fire extinguisher. Have a kit handy in cars and in the home. Step four: Is your place safe?: Look closer at your home structure for anything wrong with its frame etc…
4. Safety continued… Step five: Drop, cover and hold on!!: learn the procedure of safety for when an earthquake occurs, literally drop, cover yourself and hold on tight. Step six: Check it out!: immediately check for damage or injuries that need attention. Being trained in 1st aid helps Step seven: Communicate and recover: turn on all radios and contact insurance if necessary.
5. Preparedness for homes & schools Things to do before an earthquake: Check home for hazards (ex: brace overhead light fixtures) Know indoor and outdoor places that are safe (Against an inside wall) Educate family as well as yourself (how to turn gas off)
