9. Tell them what you did! They don’t care what you were SUPPOSED to be doing, they want to know what you DID! Highlight achievements not duties Back them up with genuine statements of achievement.

10. Tell them the story…. You’ll impress them if you concisely paint a word picture, what was going on, what you were doing about it, what the outcome was. What was the scope of the role? What were the challenges? Did I make anything bigger, better, cheaper? What did you achieve? What were you known for?

11. My career goes back a long time… Is it relevant? How old do you want them to think you are? No-one really cares where you went to school once you have done lots of other interesting things.
