3. Mumford and Sons – Babel
Babel is the second studio album by the British indie folk
band Mumford & Sons. The digipak they released
features the four members of the band on the
front, sitting on a bench looking very natural. This
reflects the relaxed and calm nature of the music they
play. In the background is a pub with many different
fictional flags. These could represent the different
nations that Mumford and Sons appeal to, as their album
was released worldwide.
The back of the cover features all of the bands songs on
the album as well as the distribution and production
company. The image is of a window in a dark street. The
image is probably the back of the pub which is features
on the front.

The messy background is immediately targeted at teenagers due to
their messy and disorganised lifestyle.
The digipak portrays a random background created by a colour scheme
of spray paints and quiet electric/neon colour tones. The overall
background of the digipak shows clear reference to graphite which
suggests that as the band has an indie genre which is mostly listened to
be teenagers, that they are trying to relate to the graphite/messy
stereotypes surrounding teenagers and their behaviour.
The back of the follows the same random colour scheme, highlighting
the random nature of the songs on the album. Also The song names are
in bubble font, showing that they are ‘fun’ and aimed at a wide
audience.
