3. A man named kino and his
wife Juana where living the
dream, they had a beautiful baby
boy named Coyotito. There are
many conflicts in this story for
the whole family starting with a
scorpion. The scorpion stung
little coyotito and Juana tried to
suck all the venom out of
coyotito. The doctor refused to
treat their son so Kino went
diving for a pearl to pay for
Coyotito treatment. Instead Kino
got greedy.

4. The setting takes
place in an
estuary called La
Paz, on the gulf
of Mexico.
The book takes
place in the early
1930s.

5. Kino
 He has a wife(Juana)
and a baby boy
(Coyotito).
 He is the diver who
found the pearl.

the rich people
(Haves). He doesn’t

destructive
force it will do

8. Pearl Diving
Then: They dived to
get peals with no
gear of any sort.
Now: They dive with
all sorts of gear like
goggles, wet suit,
and aqua lungs.

9. Pearls
Then: The pearls back
then where worth a
lot less. Also they
can easily be forged.
Now: The pearls are
worth a lot more
now. Also there is
technology that can
determine whether or
not they are real.
