2. Purpose
The purpose of my questionnaire is to find
out what people like and dislike in Thriller
films, this information will help us when it
comes to making our main task. This is what
my Questionnaire consisted of:

I tried to keep a range of open questions, closed questions and
multiple choice questions throughout. All my results varied. I
asked 20 people altogether.

4. Types of questions
 Closed questions are:
Quick and easy to answer
Only require single word/short answers, for
example, yes or no
Give facts
Keep the control of the questions with the
questionnaire

Likely to receive long answers
Get the respondent to think and reflect
Give opinions and attitudes
Give the correspondent control of the conversation

5. Question 1:
Question 1 is simple and straight to the
point. Most people said that what they like
about thrillers is that they like when there
are unexpected things or scenes that make
them jump. The other answers varied from
them liking the music to them using mythical
creatures and such.

6. Question 2:
Question 2 is again quick, simple and
straight to the point and most people
answered that they don't like when thrillers
carry the story on for too long and they
don't like when they try to incorporate
comedy into the film. The other answers
varied from them not liking the storyline i.e.
they didn’t like the idea of stalkers, to the
storyline being to confusing and
complicated

7. Question 3:
Question 3 is a closed question, this means
that it only requires a Yes or No answer.
Most people answered that they did like the
music as it makes the scene even more
thrilling because they usually play the more
daunting music in a quiet part of the film.
The ones who answered no answered no
because they feel that it does make it
scarier but they don’t want it to be too
scary

8. Question 4:
Question 4 is again a closed question. This
will help me to get more ideas for our film.
If people do like a gripping opening then
we will try to make sure the film opening
clearly shows it leading into the more
gripping part of the storyline. It will also
help me because It means that if we do
start with an eye catching opening it is
easier to use a McGuffin.

10. Question 5
Question 5 is one of a few of the multiple
choice questions that I asked. With the
film that got the most answers, I will watch
it and make detailed notes on it and all
the Thriller techniques used and such.
When I watch the films, the notes will help
me to develop my initial film ideas further
as the conventions in the film will give me
newer ideas.

12. Question 6
Question 6 is also a multiple choice question. Most
people answered that they prefer seeing new/unheard
of actors as they will not have seen them in other films
and think that they can't play thriller roles well. An
example of what I am talking about is when an actor
from a famous genre of film goes and does something
different i.e. like when Robert Pattinson went from Twilight
to Remember Me, a lot of people couldn't really take his
role seriously because they where so used to knowing him
as a sparkling vampire that when he tried to do a strong
romance film, they couldn't stop thinking of him as he
was in Twilight.

14. Question 7
This question is another multiple choice
question. It will help us to really determine
how thrilling our thriller should be. A few
people who I had surveyed were under 18
but had still seen 18 films and preferred
them as they said that they had more gore
and they were scarier.

This question will really help us to know how
often people watch films, this can then help
us with knowing how accurate our results
are i.e. if someone had just seen a Thriller

This is the last question so I tried to make it so
that it would give the people a chance to

Blood/gore and other, the things most
people put in other were things like, more
flashbacks, more background stories.
