1. Kine Weekly was a UK based magazine which was developed in 1889. The magazine used
to be called Optical Magic Lanter & Photographic Enlarger when in 1907 changed names
to Kine Weekly. The magazine contained trade news, advertisements, exhibition advice
and reviews. The magazine was owned Odhams and the magazine stopped publishing in

Screen International was developed in 1975 and is still current in print as well as its
website, screendaily.com which was added in 2001. This magazine was Todays Cinema
magazine and Kine weekly combined into one magazine. The magazine is published by
EMAP and B2B (Business 2 Business) Media company. This magazine was the first Uk
magazine that expanded globally. The magazine is aimed at those involved in global
movie business.

Motion Picture Story Magazine was founded by Vitagraph published from 1911 to 1977.
The magazine was around when the “Silent Era” of film was created where it contained
news and reviews around the films. The magazine ran the entire plots of the fils in the
magazine which helped the audience not to miss out. The magazine was developed to be
a star magazine focusing on the story lines.

3. PictureGoer Magazine was published in the UK in 1931. The magazine was the first
serious magazine focusing on the glamour of the industry and films. The magazine was
aimed specifically at the female audience.
In the 1950s when TV was developed, the magazine changed its content to more TV
based entertainment. The magazine eventually merged with a pop music magazine Disc
Date. The last issue of Picturegoer was published in 1960.

4. Intellectual is a monthly film listing giving information on release dates, times and places
for new films. The magazine was first published in 1934 and stopped in 1991. The
magazine was mainly aimed at cinema owners.
Sight & sound Magazine:
Sight & sound is published by the BFI (British Film Institute) in 1932 The magazine
features dry content and is much more serious compared to other magazines. The
content features full synopsis of films as well as their full credits. The magazine merged
with another BFI publication, MFB (The Monthly Film Bulletin)

5. Little White Lies:
Little White Lies magazine is a bi monthly UK based independent magazine which
features writing, illustrations and photography related to cinema. The first issue was
created firstly by a student named Danny Miller who is now Co Founder, for a student
project in 2001. The first issue was released in 2005.
The magazine is published by a London based creative agency, The Church of London.
The magazine is very much design led with each page features lots of visually interesting
illustrations and photos relating to the film.

6. Sub Genres - Fan Culture
Fangoria magazine is an internationally distributed US film magazine which specializes is
the horror genre, The first issue was released in 1978. The magazine became a huge
success in the 1980s due to the introduction of the home video marketing and video
nasties. The magazine expanded its brand to film festivals, film productions and radio.
