                                 commonly referred to as one in the same. Management can be simplified as dealing with the daily chaos of whatever industry you choose t
                                 If you are a manager at Starbucks, you make sure your employees show up, make coffee, and serve customers. Then you go home. You h
                                 scheduling, maybe some occassional employee conflicts, absences, upset customers, etc. You go home and the process repeats itself again
                                 again. In my experience, most managers are the opposite of leaders.

                                 On the other hand a leader is someone who motivates others to achieve a common organizational goal. Something in the future, something
                                 measurable as relative to the competition. I have experience in the law enforcement field. I will say that when the **** hits the fan there a
                                 two types of people. The ones who stand around waiting to be told what to do, and the ones who immediately take control of a situation. M
                                 people will fall in the former category. The greatest leaders I have seen had no formal training, they were born leaders. I am of the opinion
                                 cannot send someone to “leadership school” and have a great leader. You can develope the skills of someone who is meant to be a leader,
                                 amount of training makes you a leader. The proof is easily quantifiable, otherwise there would be an unlimited supply of leaders. Not the ca
                                 my former agency, everyone that was promoted into a supervisory position was sent two a two week leadership course. It is a joke. Leader
                                 motivate people and make their subordinates want to work hard, they understand that different people require different rewards and mento
                                 approaches. They understand that good work product starts with happy and satisfied employees. They understand that human capital is by
                                 every organizations greatest strength. Very few managers have any clue about organizational behavior, the complexities of human nature w
                                 translates into successful business. The desires and needs of people which all have to be considered in order to achieve peak efficiency. Mo
                                 hiring managers today are not interested in the person who can add the most value to the organization, they are interested in keeping thos
                                 away so their jobs are never threatened. A good leader surrounds himself with the best people and realizes that it’s ok to have the spot ligh
                                 someone else. I leader looks at the bigger picture and strategizes how he/she can get there. There was an old saying at my work that hold
                                 of truth “Keep the lights of those around you dim, so yours shines bright.” Over the years I have studied my previous managers, I have col
                                 my mind the traits which I liked and disliked about them. Most took the “Do it because I told you so approach” which never produces optim
results. There are plenty of people with MBA degrees these days, a degree does not make a leader. I have an MBA and a bachelor’s degree
                                management, they have only expanded my leadership tool box. I think you’ll agree that going to law school does not make you a good law
                                world is full of book smart individuals who can meet any degree requirements thrown at them. People complain of the massive salaries tha
                                CEOs make today. The good ones are worth every penny to their organizations, they are true change agents. They are few and far between
