New -- Civilian employee needs annual leave assist
A Directorate of Public Works employee, Myrtle Bowen, is an approved recipient of
the civilian personnel annual leave donor program. Due to medical issues, she has
exhausted both sick and annual leave.
Department of the Army civilian employees who would like to donate annual leave
to Bowen must fill out Form OPM 630A, "Request to Donate Annual Leave to Leave
Recipient Under the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (Within Agency)" at
www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/opm630a.pdf.
If you are a federal government civilian employee outside the Department of the
Army and want to donate annual leave to Bowen, you must complete OPM 630B,

4. Flu season is here!
Andrew Rader U.S. Army Health Clinic, on the Fort Myer portion of Joint Base
Myer-Henderson Hall will provide seasonal influenza vaccine to active duty and
reserve component military personnel, DEERS eligible beneficiaries, ages two and
above, and Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Department of Defense civilian employees
at the Memorial Chapel Fellowship Hall from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. as follows: Tuesday,
Nov. 5, Tuesday and Thursday, Nov. 12 and 14 and Thursday, Nov. 21.
Children under the age of two must see their assigned primary care provider. Rader
Clinic-enrolled children under the age of two can get the vaccine on a walk-in basis at
the Rader Immunization Clinic, Monday through Friday during normal clinic hours,
7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (the clinic is closed from noon to 1 p.m.). A pediatric appointment
is not necessary.
Through Nov. 21, flu vaccine will be provided at the flu clinics noted above only,
except for Rader enrolled children under 2 years of age. The flu vaccine will also be
offered to enrolled beneficiaries during a scheduled visit with their Primary Care
Manager (PCM). Please do not schedule an appointment only to get the flu shot.
All eligible beneficiaries must show a valid ID card or DoD Common Access Card
(CAC) prior to receiving the flu vaccine.

Ethics training slated
All employees who are required to file a financial disclosure must also receive
annual ethics training. Training for members of the Military District of Washington,
Joint Force National Capital Region and Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall who have not
received this training must satisfy their training requirement by attending one of the six
schedule sessions:
The Fort McNair portion of JBM-HH in the Inter-American Defense College
auditorium, all sessions from 11 a.m. to noon: Nov. 6; and Nov. 19.
On the Fort Myer portion of the joint base, Town Hall, all sessions from 11 a.m. to
noon: Nov. 8; and Nov. 15.

Celebratory Marine Corps Birthday run Nov. 8
Muster at 5:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 8 outside of the entrance of the Pentagon Athletic
Center/North Pentagon parking lot. The order of movement is: H&S Bn. Staff, HqCo.,
A Co., B Co., other services. Uniform of the day is Marine Corps Running Suit Jacket,
greet PT shirt, green PT shorts, running shoes, white socks. Other services, wear
equivalent uniform. NO gloves, watch caps or glow belts.
Run will commence at 6 a.m. along a pre-designated route to the Marine Corps War
5. Memorial. There will be remarks by Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps SgtMaj
Micheal P. Barrett, Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer and Wounded Warrior Kyle
Carpenter. Following remarks, Marines will sing the Marine’s Hymn and continue the
run back to the PAC entrance for light refreshments. The event will conclude at about
7:30 a.m.
CFC mid-season rally
Plan to join colleagues Tuesday, Nov. 12 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Fort Myer
Fitness Center, Building 214 to get more information on the Combined Federal
Campaign. While you’re there, eat grilled hot dogs and participate in a three-point
shoot-out and free throw competition. Wear team colors. Bring your check book and

Get anger under your control
The next Anger Management class is Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the

New -- Road construction in Arlington Nov. 11-Dec. 20
Roadway reconstruction on Columbia Pike from South Wakefield Drive to Four Mile
Run will begin Monday, Nov. 11, and continue for about six weeks, weather permitting.
Work will begin at the west side of the project and move east. Lane closures and work
will be as follows:
Eastbound Lanes
9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. – Two lanes will be closed for excavation
3:30 p.m.-6 p.m. – Lane closure will be reduced to one lane to install sub-base
7 p.m.-6:30 a.m. – Laying of asphalt; one lane will remain open to traffic
6:30-9:30 a.m. – Both lanes will be open to traffic
Westbound Lanes
7 p.m.-6 a.m. – Two lanes will be closed for excavation and installing sub-base
6 a.m. – Lane closure will be reduced to one lane
7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. – Laying of asphalt; one lane will remain open to traffic
3:30-7 p.m. – Both lanes will be open to traffic

New -- Spates Club canopy to be replaced
The Spates Community Center -- on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base -- will
undergo some renovation. The canopy at the main entrance will be replaced Monday
and Tuesday, Nov. 18 and 19; and the canopy at the bar entrance will be replaced
Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 20 and 21.
9. Spates personnel say the impact to customers will be minimal: employees will direct
customers through appropriate entrances to avoid construction areas and there will be
signage giving direction as well.

Power outage to affect some buildings at Fort Myer
Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 4 p.m. to midnight, there will be a power outage on the
Fort Myer side of the joint base that will affect several activities. Workers will install
and activate a new transformer and remove old equipment.
The buildings affected include Building 305 (CID, DES and unions), Buildings 306,
312, 313 and 318 (DPW and DOL clothing sales), Building 314 (The Old Guard Motor
Pool), Quarters in Building 317, Building 307 (PGOV), Building 321 (Environmental)
and Building 322 (USACEW).
Rain date for the outage is Thursday, Nov. 7.

Parking limited at Summerall Field lot Nov. 10, 11
The Summerall Field parking lot will be closed Sunday and Monday, Nov. 10 and
11, so that participants in the Monday, Nov. 11 Veterans Day ceremony and activities
can practice and then perform Nov. 11, a federal holiday.
The Summerall Field parking lot, on the Fort Myer portion of the joint base runs
along Sheridan Avenue between Building 417 (Consolidated Operations Facility) and
Building 243 (Town Hall).
