HEADQUARTERS & SERVICE BATTALION INFORMATION
COMMAND COMMUNICATION
Make sure that you and your family members are receiving update information from the command by
updating your Family Readiness Contact information on MOL. It's easy and fast to update, just go to your
"Personal Info" tab in MOL, select the "Family Readiness" and update your info, spouses, family members or
whoever you would like to receive official command communication.
CONAD PENTAGON ROAD SHOW
CONAD will be conducting a road show at the Pentagon every Wednesday unless otherwise advised.
Located is in Room 4B548 (Division of Public Affairs Conference RM) from 0900-1400. CONAD will continue with
the road shows every Wednesday at the same location in order to provide administrative support for the
Marines who work in the Pentagon. If any of your Marines need any administrative support I ask that you direct
them our way. CONAD sends e-mails the Marines that are due to have their triennial audits, dependent over 21
audits and CSB audits completed on weekly basis. This is a great time to have your Marines meet this
requirement.
DECLARE YOUR MOTORCYCLE OWNERSHIP
If you own or operate a motorcycle, Marine Corps regulations require that you report such
ownership/operation to your command. ALMAR 014-08 which was published in 2008 mandated that all Marines
declare motorcycle ownership (even if cycle is not at their current duty station or is not being currently ridden)
and/or ridership within 48 hours from checking into their command. In many cases this is not happening.
Failure to comply with the ALMAR subjects the violator to punitive actions under the UCMJ and possible loss of
benefits in the event of a motorcycle accident or mishap involving bodily injury. Declaration of motorcycle
ownership and/or ridership is easy. Contact the HQBN Safety and Environmental Officer at 703-693-2501 and
request that a Motorcycle Owner Information Sheet via email or fax, fill it out and send it back. That's all that is
required. Contact GySgt Dunston at 703-614-7190/91 or Maurice.dunston@usmc.mil for more information.

Public Works
"The Directorate of Public Works is conducting the annual change-over process from
converting facility systems from heating to air-conditioning throughout JBM-HH for the upcoming
summer season. All facilities should have their air conditioning system properly operating by May
5th. There may be some unseasonable warm or cool periods during this transition, and building
occupants may experience some discomfort. Based on weather forecasts and past history, this is
the best time to do the conversion. During the conversion period, please refrain from calling in
service orders for "no heat" or "no air conditioning" unless it is an emergency or in a facility that has
been designated as a Key Mission Critical Facility. DPW work crews will be diverted from the above
priorities only for emergency repair. In general, heat and air conditioning emergencies are defined
as instances in which indoor temperatures are below 55 degrees or above 90 degrees. For any
questions, concerns, or emergency repairs please contact Sgt Salama (S-4 Office) by phone at 703-
693-4735 / 703-310-8562 or by e-mail at mina.salama@usmc.mil / hnhl_s4a@usmc.mil. This
information is mainly for tenants of Henderson Hall buildings, Marines living aboard the Ft. Myer
Barracks, and ADNCO/SDNCO/OOD."

TAPS Supporters,
Seeking: 500 Active Duty and Reserve military service members in the Washington, DC area!
Mission: To volunteer as Mentors at the TAPS Good Grief Camp, supporting children of our fallen military over Memorial
Day Weekend 2014.
Background: The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) is a nonprofit organization that provides immediate and
long-term support and care to the families of our nation's fallen heroes. Over Memorial Day Weekend we will be holding
our 20th Annual TAPS Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp in the DC area hosting children and teens from across the
country. What makes our camp unique are the active duty men and women and recent veterans who volunteer to provide
one-on-one mentoring to the children of our deceased service members. We are expecting approximately 500 children to
visit the DC area to learn coping skills and support systems. You can help by volunteering your time over Memorial Day
Weekend to this very special cause.
Mentors' Role: Each Mentor will be matched with a child who has lost a loved one while serving in the military. The
children range from 4 to 19 years old and each age group will be led by an experienced and trained grief facilitator. As a
TAPS military mentor, you will serve as a "big brother/sister" to these children, to remind them that they are not forgotten
and still very much a part of the military family.
Mentors' Schedule:
Mandatory Training
- 21 May, 1800-2100 (or) 22 May, 1300-1600.

Uniform: Casual (shorts, jeans, sandals, tennis shoes, etc.). Each Mentor will receive two (2) TAPS t-shirts to be worn for all
activities Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Cost: None. During the camp, you will eat all meals with your Mentee. We do have parking available at specific locations
that will be at no cost - parking information is online.
Where: The training sessions and activities will occur at or depart from the Marriott Crystal Gateway in Crystal City, VA.
