JOB DESCRIPTION
GROUP : Operations
DIVISION : Network Management Center
JOB TITLE : NMC Coordinator
LEVEL : 6
REPORT TO : NMC Supervisor
The Job Content is described in terms of the Job Outputs and Job Objectives
JOB OBJECTIVES
To identify network faults and escalate them to various levels with the
ultimate aim of clearing them and maintaining high standards of
network quality.
Create good inter-departmental relationship
Need to interrogate systems and identify the problem, which are not
clearly reported by network monitoring systems. This may involve
statistical analysis and configuration knowledgeable.
Share knowledge with coworkers.
Outputs
Monitor, react to and log on FMS database all network faults and service
complaints.
Analyze and interrogate problematic network elements including
repetitive faults.
Report problem elements to Vodacom Operations personnel (SSS, TX,
BSS, IN, Billing, IT, Radio Planning and Optimisation).
Escalate failures to Line Management as per Fault Escalation procedure.
Follow up on outstanding faults and customer complaints.
Check Job Orders and ensure that all “planned work” is executed
according to procedure.
Co-ordinate / execute network configuration changes as and when
required.
Routine testing of systems and services (e.g. SSS, TX, BSS, IN, Billing,
Radio Planning and Optimisation checks, alarms with Maintenance staff)
Assist in keeping network configuration information updated.
Scrutinise and react, if necessary, to network performance reports
Remain up to date with procedures and functions within the NMC
Control of network site access.
Generate status reports e.g. BSS stats, SSS blocked ports, SSS, TX,
BSS, IN, Billing, Radio Planning and Optimisation checks, etc.

Hand the shift over to others according to procedure.
Routine roaming testing with foreign and own SIM’s.
Self-management of Personal Development.
COMPETENCIES
Experience and Qualifications
Relevant degrees or diplomas
T3 or BSC. - Must be technically related in hardware, software or
systems
One year’s GSM System experience.
Telecommunications and GSM experience (preferable).

REQUIREMENTS
Required to be on 24 hours rotating shifts;
Requirement to work overtime or extended shifts at short notice;
