Dear readers,
Our European "Comenius" project on the traditional sports and games is in the pro- cess of development. The first year of discovery and encounters between partners, saw the culmination during the first project meeting in Lithuania. This successful discovery of our region and traditions gradually strengthen the ties between us. The second year brought us new impressions, new discoveries, new friends during the second meeting in Portugal. You will find in these pages the life of the project dur- ing the first part of this school year.

2. The second year of the project started with the preparation for the sec- ond project meeting in Cuba. Students and teachers were really excit- ed by the preparations as everybody already knew each other, already learnt some Portuguese and Lithuanian words and expressions, already made friends...
The second project meet- ing took place in a small but cosy town Cuba, Por- tugal from September 23, till October 02. Portu- guese partners organised very interesting and excit- ing activities for all days .The main task of the project meeting was to learn together tradi- tional Portuguese games and sports, to propagate healthy lifestyle, to get acquainted with healthy traditional Portuguese dishes and , of course to learn the Lithuanian and Portuguese languages.
The biggest part of activi- ties was connected with sports and games. With a great interest students and teachers learnt and played such Portuguese games „Burro“, „Pimpinella“, „Arco de ferro“ and others. Despite the fact that the trip by bikes was cancelled due to the bad weather, all other excursions im- pressed all Lithuanian students and teachers very much. During the trips to Beja, Lisbon and Evora, famous castles,
churches and museums were visited, so Lithuani- an team learnt a lot about Portuguese history, tradi- tions and architecture . But not only ancient buildings and ruins caught students and teachers’ attention, the huge statue of Cristo Rei, as well as Lisbon Ocean- arium made a great im- pression on everybody.
For a long time Lithuani- an students and teachers will remember their trip to Algarve. For all of them it was the first trip to the Atlantic Ocean. The weather was fantastic, the waves were huge, a lot of swimming and the amazing view of the Al- bufeira Sao Rafael rocks made this day unforgetta- ble. In addition to this, students and teachers enjoyed a visit to Zoo- marine with its interesting educational program: dolphins, seals and birds shows, 4D films about sea animals and a lot of other different activities.
Activities at school were also interesting and en- joyable. Creating together a map of Europe from the pieces of ceramics and then cooking traditional Portuguese dishes brought together all pro- ject participants. Sports activities at the school gym, games at the stadi- um, swimming lessons at the town swimming pool made all days unforgetta- ble, and helped students
to realise what it means- to lead healthy lifestyle.
Good-bye party, organised by Portuguese teachers, students and their parents finished our meeting. Dur- ing the party the last thanks were said, the last presents were given, then the last disco-party was held. How- ever ,the last disco-party was sad, as everybody couldn’t stop their tears and sincere words. After this party the link between two countries became much stronger, everybody decided that their friendship will not stop after the end of the project and new meeting are started to be planned.
All students were impressed by the hospitality of their host families, as well as teachers were impressed by the hospitality of the Portu- guese colleagues.
Although the second project meeting finished, beautiful friendship, which appeared between two countries, will not stop. We returned to Lithuania, but we brought with us the warmth of Portu- guese sun and warmth of the hearts of our Portu- guese friends.

3. Our school was the host of our partners from Si- auliai, Lithuania, com- posed by 21 students and 5 teachers. This mo- bility occurred from the 23rd of September till the 2nd October and was the following up of the previ- ous mobility made by our school in May 2013.
Having has a background the theme of the project, playing and learning, our partners from Lithuania had contact with our school reality first-hand as well as the district, region and country, be- cause they also visited some of the most em- blematic regions of Portu- gal.
We will highlight the fol- lowing activities:
A trip by amphibious boat on the river Tagus (HIPPO TRIP)
A thematic visit to Zoo- marine and a visit to white, fine sand beach St. Rafael in Albufeira.
Participation in traditional games
A cultural visit to Lisbon, including the aquarium, castle and statue / monu- ment “Cristo Rei”
There were also guided tours to the district of Cuba, Beja, Evora and other relevant places in the south Alentejo.
There are a few very im- portant aspects to men- tion, such as the extreme- ly warm welcome that our host parents and commu-
nity gave the Lithuanian students in their homes and also in taking part of the social meetings be- tween everybody, trying very hard to overcome the linguistic barrier and achieving it with flying colours, as students from two extremes geograph- ical positions of Europe could copped and dealt very well with cultures so utterly different from their ones.
Extraordinarily they man- aged to find out some amazing points of con- tact, even at the level of games practised in both countries.
Afterwards there was given a questionnaire, previously elaborated, about healthy lifestyle habits, these were com- piled and the results were presented in the website.
Near the final term of 2013 there was held a meeting with all the par- ticipants – students, host families, town hall and several other entities that gave their collaboration to make this project pos- sible and it was also a great way to let all the community know what was done, showing all the documents and multime- dia items elaborated.
As a closing reminder we must mention the unani- mous opinion of all the involved - students, host families, town hall, teach- ers and school board – who considered that the project was of extreme significance and ad-
vanced in a very construc- tive way, considering even that these kind of events / projects have an thrilling importance in the growth of our students as European citizens, of unique right in a border- less Europe.
