John 3:16 First born Son
Overtime John 3:16 has been scripture in church however Christians have not given time to respond to the
reality of the word of truth. Think for a while this scripture has so much to discover about, today we shall
concentrate on the truth of His only begotten Son.
For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish but have everlasting life. This tells us God has His only begotten Son Jesus Christ making the
first born of all creatures (Mathew 1:25, Col 1:15).
The biblical legislation gave the first born male a special status with respect of inheritance rights and
certain regulations. First born male in Hebrew is bekhor meaning heir or successor and the inheritance
right is termed as mishpat ha-bekhorah meaning the rule of the birth right (Deuteronomy 21:17). We can
see first the example of Jacob and Esau, Jacob exchanges the birthright from the hand of Esau and finally
he comes in to grab the blessing of Esau the first born from the father Isaac (Genesis 27:19-32), then look
at 1 chronicles 5:1ff it expresses Joseph status as first born, then the sons of Joseph; Ephraim and
Manasseh (Genesis 48:14) And Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it upon Ephraim’s head who
was younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh’s head,guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the
firstborn. This gives us a clear shadow of what happened in the New Testament.
Psalms 89:27, 1samuel 17:13 we need to understand that David son of Jesse was not the firstborn until
there was an exchange. But this was not to happen to only one man, race,generation but to all that believe
on Jesus Christ, ‘’ whosoever believeth on Him’’ Jesus is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of
every creature (Colossians 1:15), He is the Head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the first
born from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
The exchange Jesus came for in John 3:17, God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but
that the world through him might be saved. The Apostle Paul writes to the Philippians that let this mind
be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be
equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was
made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became
obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given
him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in
heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus
Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:5-11)
The body of Christ is the church of the firstborn (Hebrews 12:23) and therefore for whom he did
foreknew, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son that he might be the firstborn
among many brethren (Romans 8:29). Shalom
