Welcome to BSIB 2012! The Innovation Bank funded eight projects across the borough, tackling problems such reducing home and business carbon dioxide emissions; providing emergency responses to accidents; increasing youth enterprise and skills; and preventing malnutrition among older people living at home.
This year we are working alongside the Innovation Unit and CommUNITY Barnet to develop ideas for the £200,000 fund that we have available to fund innovative projects.
Your ideas were among the best received. Some general feedback: Scalability – how could your idea be scaled up and rolled out across the borough. Detail – We need the detail – how will you make your vision/idea a reality? The key milestones and targets are important. How will these be identified? The council will need to track the progress of the project and will need these measurements to do this. Finally, how will the project continue after the Innovation Bank funding has finished? It is not sufficient just to say you will apply for additional funding. If this is the case, the community panel will need to have detail. Which funding streams will you apply for?
Stage 2 app – sign the form and return it by postIf a group – it must be signed by 2 members of the committee or, if an individual, it must be signed by your sponsorFor groups – we will require a copy of last year’s accounts . Money – we will send you terms and conditions of the grant funding and any special conditions outlined by the community panelWe will release the money after the milestones and project plan detail has been agreed by both the council and the organisationWe can be flexible with finances and conditions. If you wish to receive the money upfront, if there is a justification for this, we will consider it. What usually happens is a staggered release of payment over the year. The schedule will be agreed by both the council and the grant recipient Expectations – we will expect regular (usually quarterly) progress reports from you and will expect a review after the funding has ceased.
Where can I look for alternative sources of funding?
