WHAT IS PRIMARY EDUCATION?
Primary education is the first stage of compulsory education. It is preceded
by pre-school or nursery education and is followed by secondary education.
PRIMARY EDUCATION is concerned with improvement of morality within a
student. Without being bookish, so that a student should adopt certain
moral ethical codes like truth, non-violence, charity and so on, which will
illumine his character by growing age. It is essential because “Nothing turns
out right so long as there is no harmony between body, mind, and soul.”
The importance of PRIMARY EDUCATION in a human life is same as a good
base or foundation is required for a complex building…
…….AS WITHOUT GOOD FOUNDATION BUILDING CAN’T EXISTS IN THE SAME
WAY WITHOUT PRIMARY EDUCATION HUMANITIES CAN’T PERSIST…
STEPS BY GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
 The Indian government lays great emphasis to primary education up to the age
of fourteen years (referred to as Primary Education in India.) The Indian
government has also banned child labour in order to ensure that the children do
not enter unsafe working conditions.
 The District Primary Education Programme (DPEP) was launched in 1994 with an
aim to universalize primary education in India by reforming and vitalizing the
existing primary education system
 Every child between the ages of 6 to 14 years has the right to free and
compulsory education under the act 21a . The government schools shall provide
free education to all the children. Private schools shall admit at least 25% of the
children in their schools without any fee.
 The Mid-day Meal Scheme is the popular name for school meal programme in
India. It involves provision of lunch free of cost to school-children on all working
days with an objective to increase school enrolment and attendance, improve
socialization among children belonging to all castes and addressing malnutrition.
WHERE IT FAILS…?
 Due to poor education system , aware parents feel insecure to send their wards to
government primary schools..and few parents don’t give importance to PRIMARY
EDUCATION,They just want GRADE UPGRADATION.
 All current available data on student achievement suggest children are performing
far below the level that is expected of them .i.e. Annual Status of Education Report
(ASER) 2012 suggest that of all rural children enrolled in standard five, only half can
fluently read text from a standard two textbook. In arithmetic, only half of all
standard five children can do a basic two-digit subtraction problem with the
arithmetic operation of borrowing—a skill that is expected in standard two i.e.
enrolment has been enhanced , but the level of quality remains low.
 lack of adequate infrastructure; several states still face a severe shortage of
teachers. Many will complain about the poor quality of institutional support for
teachers’ professional development.
 THE steps taken by indian government is far enough to achieve “schooling for all",
but it fails to reach the goals of “learning for all”.
 Failure of mid day meal project at so many places due to various reasons.
Why it fails…?
INADEQUATE INPUTS such as….
i) Lack of good infrastructure,
ii)shortage of well trained teachers,
iii)poor quality of institunal support.
CHILDREN FAILING BEHIND
i) Class attendance is not up to the required
level, even after mid day meal, free books, and
dress distribution.
ii) Lack of understanding capacity of students, as
it arises because with age, grade increases but
the level remains same, and due to this it is a
great problem in front of the teachers that
WHAT TO BE TOUGHT….?
OUR STEPS…
 PARENTS–TEACHER INTERECTION- There should be a regular
interaction of parents and teacher,so that they can share
activities of students.
 COUNCELLOR- Mandatorily, there should be a councellor in
every school ,to evaluate the capacity of students in various
aspects.
 PRE NURSERY EDUCATION- Every Students should pass
through pre-nursery education before primary
education, which will surely help in level enhancement.
 PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL WAY- Teaching technique should
be more practical than theoretical.VIDEO TECHNOLOGY
should be employed,as video has more effect than audio
interection.it also includes COMPUTER EDUCATION &
GLOABLISATION OF LANGUAGES.
Continue in next slide..
 TEACHER & TEACHING- Teacher should be well
qualified & well trained to impart good skills to
students . And teaching should be done by mental
level of children not by age groups.
 TOYS & GAMING- As these things are point of
attraction for children , so TOYS & GAMING should
be necessary in every primary school to refresh the
children.
 INFRASTRUCTURE- Every school must have a good
infrastructure which meets all basic Requirements.
 PROPER MANAGEMENT- Districtwise There should be
a proper transparent management team to
manage & investigate the system periodically.
 OTHER FACILITIES- the basic needs i.e.
Healthcare,Books,Dresses and Stationaries should be
provided.
Conclusions….
IF ALL THE STEPS MENTIONED ABOVE,WILL BE IMPLYED PROPERLY
THEN SURELY THE PRIMARY EDUCATION IN INDIA CAN BE
ENHENCED. . . IT WILL CERTIANLY HELP IN IMPROVEMENT OF
MENTAL AS WELL AS PHYSICAL GROWTH.
