FRIENDS OF The students, teachers and administrators at E Prep have exceeded last year’s
E PREP SCHOOLS remarkable results! Although hard to believe, in 2008-09, this middle school outperformed
John Zitzner, President the 2008-09 average of all students in the entire state on the Ohio Achievement Tests.

                                   2. E PREP’S FIRST GRADUATING CLASS
E Prep’s “college” class of 2017 graduated from the 8th grade in a splendid
ceremony at the John Hay Campus Auditorium on June 26th. 100% of the students
are now placed in college-prep high schools and will be followed throughout their
high school years by Michelle Williams and the E Prep to College Department.
Students will be attending schools such as Andrews Osborne, St. Martin de Porres,
John Hay School of Science & Medicine, the Cleveland STEM schools, Gilmour
Academy, and others. Congratulations 8th Graders!

                                   3. A NEW MENTORING OPPORTUNITY

In collaboration with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cleveland, E Prep
proudly announces a new mentoring program for the majority of the 8th graders.
This is a critical time as our 8th graders finish E Prep and transition to their new high
schools. Volunteers are needed to assure that all of our students in the class of 2018
have mentors. If you’re interested in learning more, please contact John Harper at
                                       216-373-2795 or john.harper@eprepschool.org

                                   4. FUNDING SITUATION IMPROVED – THANKS TO YOU!
According to published accounts, the state budget will pass and will provide
funding to charter schools at about the same rate as it has in past years: 2/3 of what
traditional district schools receive. While clearly not fair to our families, it’s better
than the Governor’s and House proposal to further cut schools like ours by an
additional 20-30%. THANK YOU for all your efforts in reaching out to legislators.
It worked, and this wouldn’t have happened without you!

E Prep School 2009 Ohio Achievement Test Scores

  • 1. July / August, 2009 2008-2009 OUTCOMES FRIENDS OF The students, teachers and administrators at E Prep have exceeded last year’s E PREP SCHOOLS remarkable results! Although hard to believe, in 2008-09, this middle school outperformed John Zitzner, President the 2008-09 average of all students in the entire state on the Ohio Achievement Tests. FRIENDS OF E PREP BOARD 1. E PREP SCHOOL OAT RESULTS John Sherwin Jr. (Chair) Michael Merriman (Vice Chair) Terry Nauck (Sec/Treasurer) Vlad Agranovich Scott Berlin Jeanette Grasselli Brown Denise A. Carkhuff Peter Conway Robert Gillespie David Given David Gunning Marc Harrison Walter Kalberer Robert Kilo Andrew Kline John LeMay Craig Lucas Peter Rome Shelley Seifert HEAD OF SCHOOL Marshall Emerson III 2. E PREP’S FIRST GRADUATING CLASS E Prep’s “college” class of 2017 graduated from the 8th grade in a splendid ceremony at the John Hay Campus Auditorium on June 26th. 100% of the students are now placed in college-prep high schools and will be followed throughout their high school years by Michelle Williams and the E Prep to College Department. Students will be attending schools such as Andrews Osborne, St. Martin de Porres, John Hay School of Science & Medicine, the Cleveland STEM schools, Gilmour Academy, and others. Congratulations 8th Graders! 3. A NEW MENTORING OPPORTUNITY In collaboration with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cleveland, E Prep proudly announces a new mentoring program for the majority of the 8th graders. This is a critical time as our 8th graders finish E Prep and transition to their new high schools. Volunteers are needed to assure that all of our students in the class of 2018 have mentors. If you’re interested in learning more, please contact John Harper at 216-373-2795 or john.harper@eprepschool.org 4. FUNDING SITUATION IMPROVED – THANKS TO YOU! According to published accounts, the state budget will pass and will provide funding to charter schools at about the same rate as it has in past years: 2/3 of what traditional district schools receive. While clearly not fair to our families, it’s better than the Governor’s and House proposal to further cut schools like ours by an additional 20-30%. THANK YOU for all your efforts in reaching out to legislators. It worked, and this wouldn’t have happened without you! 1417 East 36th Street - Cleveland, OH 44114 | john’s direct line 216.373.7801 fax 216.373.7801 john.zitzner@eprepschool.org | marshall.emerson@eprepschool.org | www.eprepschool.org
