Prophets will sometimes give you instructions on how to repent to God for Him to possibly relent. Where there is repentance there is hope. Sin brings judgment but God’s forgiveness brings rejoicing.
1. Understanding the Prophetic Pt. 4
The Book of Habakkuk:
“Habakkuk was complaining to God not about serving Him, but about the
people’s wickedness he was experiencing.”
Habakkuk 1:5-11
“The Lord answers Habakkuk’s complaint saying He will punish them using the
Chaldeans. The Chaldeans were an ancient Semitic people from Babylon.”
“Despite sending the Chaldeans to deal with people, Habakkuk complained to
God asking why He tolerates wickedness. Even though prophets hear answers
directly from God on matters, they also need understanding on issues too.”
Hebrews 10:35-36
Habakkuk 2:4
Romans 7:17
Galatians 3:11
2. Shigionoth:
“This is a musical type of prayer of sudden atmospheric changes to tap into
the eternal realm and Habakkuk was the only type of prophet to pray this
prayer.”
The Book of Zephaniah:
2 Kings 22:1
“Josiah reigned during the time of Zephaniah and was only 8 years old when
he became king.”
“Zephaniah is the great great grandson of Hezekiah and his name means
Jehovah hides which describes God’s great protection of His people when
the day of His anger arrives.”
Zephaniah 1:2-3
“Zephaniah is largely dedicated to declaring the judgment of God in
connection with the second coming of Christ.”
These are the five nations going to be judged with the rest of the world:
The land of Philistia, Moab and Ammon, Cush, Assyria, and every city in
Jerusalem.”
3. “The closing verses of Zephaniah include the promises God made to Israel in
the future such as the re-gathering in the promised land, being honored and
praised by nations, and restoration of their goods and fortunes returning to
them.”
The Book of Haggai
“Haggai means festival or feast of YHWH.”
“Haggai’s ministry was during the reign of King Darius and he had a word for
Zerubbabel who was the governor of Judah and the High Priest Joshua.”
“Zerubbabel was the grandson of Jehoiachin, was a descendant of
David, and was in direct line of the ancestry of Jesus.”
1 Chronicles 3:17
Luke 3:27
Haggai 1:4 – “Many people make excuse for the things that God has told
them to do. IS it time to focus on personal things and forget that God’s house
needs to be taken care of?”
“If you are doing something for God, He will give you strength to carry it out
all the way. God will not give you strength to do what you want.”
Leviticus 10:11
4. “Haggai is told by God to question the priests concerning the law because
they were offering things but they were defiled by sin. As a result God shakes
the heavens and earth, shakes royal thrones and overthrows the power of
Kingdoms and appoints Zerubabbel as His chosen servant to operate as His
signet ring.”
The Book of Joel:
“Joel means YHWH is God.”
Joel 1:5 - “God uses prophets to address complacency.”
“God’s punishment for sin is overwhelming, dreadful, and unavoidable.”
“Prophets will sometimes give you instructions on how to repent to God for
Him to possibly relent.”
“Where there is repentance there is hope. Sin brings judgment but God’s
forgiveness brings rejoicing.”
Joel 2:28-29
Ezekiel 39:28-29
“Restoration for Judah and Jerusalem and where God will dwell is Joel’s final
message.”
5. The Book of Nahum:
“Nahum means comforter and is a prophecy against Nineveh. The book of
Jonah takes place in Nineveh as well but is 100 years before Nahum’s
ministry.”
Nahum 1:1-6 “This is a detailed description of God’s anger because prophets
are very detailed because they give instruction.”
Sennacherib - 2 Kings 18:13-35
“Judah shared a yoke with Nineveh because they partook in their sins.”
“Woe is an exclamation of grief or distress.”
“Nineveh is compared to a harlot because she obtained all her possessions by
prostituting herself, enslaving nations, and through witchcraft.”
“Prophets expose witchcraft whether it is coming from outside sources or
from within a camp.”
The Book of Malachi
“The last book of the old testament, Malachi means messenger of God.”
“The book of Malachi is God rebuking the priests.”
6. “Contempt means dishonor or disrespect.”
Malachi 1:6-14
“The priests were supposed to be men after God’s heart and know God, but were
sacrificing unworthy sacrifices thinking that God would accept anything. This is a
sign that prophets can rebuke priests, pastors and leadership who do not stay in
line with God’s commands.”
“God says that My name will be great among the nations, so He expects nothing
but great.”
Numbers 1:47-54
“When sin arrives in a covenant that God made, it makes it unholy. When this
happens God sends a prophet to remind of the covenant for correction or to warn
of judgment.”
Deuteronomy 7:3-4
2 Corinthians 6:14-18
“Priests & leaders need to be corrected for the standard that God has set for
handling His word and His people. Leadership should be open to receive the
prophet.”
“God will remember those who are faithful to Him. It’s not for a believer to
determine good or bad or right or wrong, evildoer s will get theirs.”
