The new era of mobility lifestyle that breaks the constraints of space and time is approaching.
Let's take a look at three future mobility solutions presented by Hyundai Motor Group: “AAM”, a landing device that is key to mobility in the sky; “UAM”, a mobility solution for urban air travel; and “PBV”, an eco-friendly multipurpose vehicle based on self-driving technology.

Intro
Hyundai Motor Group’s
Future Mobility Lifestyle
Hyundai Motor Group proposed a future smart mobility solution
of AAM(Advanced Air Mobility), UAM(Urban Air Mobility),
and PBV(Purpose Built Vehicle) to create future cities
with human-centered mobility lifestyle.
4. ‘Core Technology of Air Mobility, AAM Landing Gear’
AAM(Advanced Air Mobility) is a concept of transportation including UAM,
which covers flight within urban areas as well as in-between regional ports.
The most fundamental role of AAM landing gear is absorbing impact at departure and landing equally,
and thus, needs structural stability by distributing impact properly between AAM fuselage and landing gear.
Only, the difference between AAM landing gear and general airplane is that
more weight is put upon it due to shorter departure and landing distance.

5. Automobile Company’s
AAM Development
Hyundai Motor Group can enter the market
more flexibly with its existing mass production
and powertrain technology.
In the aspect of core components, AAM land-
ing gear and vehicle’s suspension show similar
structure. They both consist of shock absorber
andtire,andappliedspringtooffsettheweight.
While vehicle suspension focuses on handling
performanceandendurance,AAMlandinggear
focuses on impact load and safety since its de-
fect directly relates to passengers’ life.

‘Endless Freedom,
New Future of Urban Air Mobility’
Hyundai Motor Group has outlined its commitment to provide customers
with freely moving seamless mobility that connects the sky and the ground.
UAM(Urban Air Mobility) is the core technology that would enable aviation without constraints
on geography and time to become a much more accessible means of public transportation.
8. UAM Commercialization
in 2028
Hyundai Motor Group established a UAM-exclu-
sive department in 2019 to realize the ‘Democ-
ratization of Flight’, expecting to commercialize
by 2028. And to this end, the Group is focusing on
creating an agile product roadmap and securing
core technologies such as aircraft design, flight
control software, and safety technology.

Distributed electric propulsion technologyuseselectric
energy created from one single battery to operate multi-
ple independent rotors; so even if one rotor fails, the ve-
hicle still flies safely as the others continue to run.
Also, to minimize noise, it uses smaller rotors than those
of a helicopter, and only uses certain rotors when neces-
sary for various flight conditions such as takeoff, landing,
or in the middle of a flight.

With a total of eight rotors, the S-A1 has a 15-me-
ter-long wing and a 10.7-meter-long body, enabling
vertical take-off and landing without a runway. A to-
tal of five people, including a pilot, can fly trips up to
about 100 km with a speed up to 290 km/h.
It can also charge in high-speed for about 5 minutes
while passengers get in and out of the vehicle.
In addition, the parachute deployment system for
emergency situations, quiet cabin design that helps
smooth communication between passengers, and
lightweight carbon composite materials ensure safe-
ty, convenience, and cost-efficiency.

13. The Essence of Future Mobility Lifestyle
When UAM flies in the sky and moves freely without constraints,
what will happen to the vehicles on the ground?
The answer lies in PBV(Purpose Built Vehicle), the eco-friendly,
multipurpose mobility that uses autonomous driving to connect people to people.

PBV is an eco-friendly mobility device based on
the electric vehicle that supports various future
lifestyles.
The fully autonomous driving function will ena-
ble various uses ranging from personalized liv-
ing space to public shuttle and bring innovative
changes to the transportation and logistics in-
dustries based on AI(Artificial Intelligence) opti-
mal routing or platooning.

PBV uses 16 electric hardware ball type wheels, which
power the wheels directly and more efficiently. Without
needing a huge power source, its interior can be person-
alized to individual needs.
17. PBVs will have multiple forms and features based on
its usage.
For example, it can be used for public transportation,
