2. The woman in black
• I have chosen to analyse the film poster
for the horror film ‘The Woman In Black’.
It is a film by Daniel Radcliffe which will
attract more audience as he is famous for
the harry potter movies which a lot of
people are interested in. The image
shown of the actor makes him seem
intense. I find this poster very
effective, the mise-en-scene is dark and
misty creating a spooky effect. It shows a
figure in the background in black covered
in mist, next to a cross and has a slogan
‘fear her curse’. This will attract the
attention of the audience, it is placed
under the title but in the same colour so
the audience are intrigued to read it.
Further back in the background there is a
house on its own in the middle of a lot of
fields, this creates suspense and attracts
the audience to want to know more
about it.
3. House at the end of the street
• I have chosen to analyse the film poster
for the horror film ‘House At The End
Of The Street’. The title looks as though
it has been scratched and the image of
the main actress shown is of her not
looking at the camera which makes you
think something else is there. The mise-
en-scene is very dark creating a
threatening atmosphere so therefor the
audience has a sense of not seeing the
whole image of what is going on. There
is a sub heading ‘fear reaches out…for
the girl next door.’ it’s a tag line which
gets people to want to know why fear
reaches out for her and how. It
intrigues the audience.
4. Sinister
• I have chosen to analyse the film
poster for the horror film ‘Sinister’ it
may attract you if you have seen
paranormal activity or insidious and
thought it was good as the same
producer has produced this film
sinister. There is a girl who doesn’t
look very old which may attract
teenagers. There is an image in blood
which looks like a face, it makes you
think the girl is possessed and as you
cant see any facial features. It makes
you wonder why she is dragging the
blood along the wall. It intrigues the
audience by the tag line ‘once you see
him, nothing can save you.’ making
you think how and why, what it is.
There are things such as ropes on the
floor just lying there, what could they
be for?
5. The unborn.
• I have chosen to analyse the film poster for the horror
film ‘The unborn’. There is a lady who doesn’t look
very old and is in very little clothes she is the perfect
vulnerable female attracting more of an audience of
teenagers or young men. The woman can not only see
her reflection but can also see somebody else’s this
creates suspense and makes you want to know what
they are doing there. The image shown of the actor
makes her seem frightened, shocked and intense. The
mise-en-scene isn’t dark it is light and a lot of blue
detail in it. The image being shown mysteriously in the
mirror looks like a ghost. They’re pale in the face.
There is a tag line ‘evil will do anything to live’ also
suggesting that there is a ghost, this will attract the
attention of the audience as it is places by the main
image in white writing to stand out from the
background.
6. The possession.
• I have chosen to analyse the film poster for
the horror film ‘the possession’. It is a film
presented by Sam Rami. The image shown is
of a female which has a hand appearing from
her mouth which also seems to be clawing
her face. At the very top of the poster there
is a tag line which reads’ Based on a true
story’ this will attract the attention of the
audience. The title looks as though it has
been scratched which indicates there is
danger and underneath the title in the same
colour as the title reads another tag line
‘darkness lives inside’ this will attract the
audience as it is in the same colour as the
title. This tag line describes the image shown.
There is a date in red which also has
correlations of danger, blood and violence.
