Examples given include programs to help people quit smoking through personalized text messages with tips, videos, and social support over time. Evaluation found the STOMP smoking cessation program doubled short-term quit rates compared to a control group and was equally effective across demographic groups. While the STUB IT program did not recruit enough participants to show a significant difference, it provided long-term support through 12 months. Mobile programs allow wide reach, integration into daily life, and less inequality than other technologies.
