The Carbon Neutral Municipalities is an innovative project mitigating climate change at local level. Municipalities, businesses, citizens and experts devise solutions that reduce emissions and improve local welfare.
5. Achievements
●
Commitment of municipal
governments
●
Emission inventories and energy
studies
●
Numerous reported measures to
cut greenhouse gas emissions
implemented by municipalities,
companies and residents
●

8. Emission inventory
Municipal greenhouse gas emission inventories have been
carried out with the KASVENER model, developed by SYKE
for the Association of Finnish Local and Regional
Authorities
8
9. Cutting emissions brings cost
savings!
Example: A district heating plant and network has reduced
oil consumption in Padasjoki. The district heat is produced
mostly by burning wood chip.
• Cost savings are
200 000 € annually
• The emission reduction is
600 t CO2 annually
