to upload and download data/stories about the Amazon
● Generate narratives/visualizations with data
● Stimulate data/stories sharing among Amazonian
organizations
● Create greater awareness about problems in the region

● Many years of research in the region, but data not shared
● Journalistic narratives can provide vital information
● Internet maps and data tools allow compelling visualization

● A group of well trained journalists on how to use data to

● A number of data vizualizations using data uploaded by

● A model for communities and NGO collaborative action in the

8. Implementation
Phase 1 - March 2012 - February 2013
a) Development of the platform.
b) Upload and visualization of selected databases by working
with organizations to obtain data.
c) 500 stories using the datasets provided
d) Several maps with the stories merged with layers

a) Collaborative data collection - creating citizen tools/desk
