Immedia Broadcasting plc, the company headed by Bruno Brookes that
supplies in-store radio services, told shareholders last week that “results for
the year will be significantly behind market expectations.” Immedia admitted
that advertising on its 'Impulse Live' service, which broadcasts to 5,000
'Texaco', 'Londis', 'Mills', 'Spar' and 'Star News' shops, had been “slower than
expected”. The statement explained that “a much longer time frame than
anticipated” was evolving between initial discussions with possible clients and
the signing of advertising contracts, a situation which it felt was unlikely to
change.
Following the statement, chief executive Brookes bought 50,000 shares in his
company at an all-time low price of 21p, which increased his stake in Immedia
to 13.3% and 1.56m shares.
