The BBC’s new report on the future development of DAB digital radio suggests
that the government should review the possible switch-off date of analogue
radio in three years time.
The report identifies two factors that could destabilise DAB’s public
acceptance:
 the lack of spectrum to include all BBC local and regional stations, as well
as smaller commercial stations and the new community stations on
multiplexes;
 and the slow uptake of DAB receivers in cars and in key European
countries.
