Characters:
Chloe
Chloe is a 5 to 7 year old girl with an imaginary friend. She is the focus of the film.
Lucy
Lucy is between the ages of 5 and 8 and is Chloe’s imaginary friend.
Jenny (Chloe’s mother)
Jenny is in the 30-40 age range and must look similar to her daughter. It would be
ideal to cast our younger actor’s mother for this part.
Rob (Chloe’s father)
Again, Rob must look similar to his on screen daughter. He is in the 30-40-age range
and is seriously concerned about his daughter having an imaginary friend.
Luke
Luke is Rob and Jenny’s baby son and Chloe’s younger brother. He is about a year
old and has little significance in the film other than creating a ‘family setting’ which
an audience can relate to.
Mrs Young
Mrs Young is Chloe’s primary school teacher and is also concerned about Chloe and
the effect that her imaginary friend Lucy is having on her educational progress.
Jenny and Rob live a normal family life with their young daughter Chloe and baby
son Luke. They live in a house in London, England and Chloe has recently started
school. Chloe always talks of her friend Lucy and it is when her mother discovers that
there is no Lucy in Chloe’s class or school that she begins to be concerned. The trailer
is likely to begin with this part of the storyline as a trailer often begins by setting the
scene or what is ‘normal’ to the characters and then introduces the ‘problem’ which I
key to any storyline, particularly dramas. I will later decide how this is introduced
when creating a storyboard.
Lucy becomes a big part of Chloe’s life to the point where she refuses to go to school
because she wants to stay with Lucy. Her parents always catch her playing games
with what they see as an invisible person as Chloe appears to be laughing and talking
to herself. It is when Chloe’s school teacher phones home as she too becomes
concerned about the effect Lucy is having on her educational progress. This is when
Jenny and Rob decide to take action, taking their daughter to see a child psychiatrist.
Jenny and Rob become embarrassed as Chloe misbehaves in public when she can’t be
with Lucy and Chloe is constantly in trouble. With nobody to talk to Chloe turns to

2. her imaginary friend and she decides to run away.
In a desperate search for Chloe her parents look up the name that she talks of, with a
quick search on Google and a look into the history of their home and who lived there,
it appears that there was once a Lucy living in the home. They finally believe their
daughter and cannot apologise enough when she is found. Taking her to see a fortuneteller type person who believes she has a supernatural gift. Her father, though
disbelieving of this ‘sixth sense’ his daughter appears to have decides that they must
move home to ‘cure’ his daughter.
When Chloe tells her imaginary friend she is going to be moving house she doesn’t
see Lucy for days, with Lucy being her ‘best friend’ she gets very upset and thinks
that her imaginary friend must be angry at her. She leaves home again in search for
Lucy, she goes to the fortune-teller type person who cannot communicate with her
friend and everything is going wrong for Chloe. The family cannot move as they stay
to look for Chloe. She is not found by those looking for her due to hiding in some ‘top
secret’ places her friend Lucy used to play at when she was younger. It is when Chloe
decides her friend will not come to her again she makes the trip home, she sees her
parents and runs across the road to meet them- being hit by a car. Eventually she gets
better and the family learn to accept the fact that Lucy will always be in her life, as
they decide separating the two has never been a good idea.
