2. What is a Sci-Fi film?
A Sci- Fi film is often defined as:
A film genre that uses science fiction: speculative, science-based
depictions of phenomena that are not necessarily accepted by
mainstream science, such as extraterrestrial life forms, alien
worlds, extrasensory perception, and time travel, often along with
futuristic elements such as spacecraft, robots, cyborgs, interstellar
space travel or other technologies.
6. Could I produce a Sci Fi trailer?
After analysing the genre conventions of Sci-Fi film trailers I have
realised that it may be difficult to produce a quality film trailer due to the
extensive mise en scene and specialised editing required.
In the John Carter trailers there were hundreds of alien like creatures
who were obviously computer generated, without access to the
sophisticated software that would enable me to do so would mean that I
would be likely to require a large cast and several costumes. This may
prove difficult due to the small scale nature of my film.
