CPD
Overview
This course will explore ways of using a range of freely available
web tools to further students’ understanding of key concepts in global learning. As
National Curriculum 2014 arrives, the need to strengthen global knowledge will become
more important and technology can allow access to topical and contemporary material
and connections with people, places and events in distant locations. It can also allow
students to undertake a more nuanced exploration of inequality by constructing their
own global stories; selecting and assembling a range of images and text to develop their
understanding of, and empathy for, others.
Delegates will be introduced to and shown how to use new tools, such as ArcGIS
Online, Google Drive, Gapminder, Worldmapper, Triptico and Big Huge Labs, as well as
social media, such as Twitter, Pinterest and Flipboard, for exploring global learning
concepts.
Delegates will contribute to the creation of a framework for a new unit of work for KS2 or
3 so that everyone leaves with a new resource to use immediately and a focus for further
work to consolidate the new skills that have been learned.
