n the hustle and bustle of daily life, more and
more of us are finding ourselves prone to
falling ill, especially when it comes to pro-
longed cough and sore throat infections. New
research shows that rising air pollution levels
combined with air borne infections affecting the
throat not only lead to prolonged cough and res-
piratory infections, but also sore throat pain.
More specifically, the air quality standard in
Chennai and Coimbatore currently stands at
67.72 ug/m3, alarmingly higher than the regular
standard of 55 ug/m3 for residential, industrial
and rural areas. Incidentally, there is also a rise
in the number of sore throat infections and the
consequent irri-
tation and pain.
In a recent
nation-wide GFK
survey, which
investigated over
5,000 individuals,
50% of the
r e s p o n d e n t s
were found to be
sore throat pain
sufferers. Many
of these people
have also suf-
fered from a sore
throat at least
once a year to six
times a year.
While you may
have found vari-
ous ways to cope
up with a sore
throat infection,
an instant and
long-lasting rem-
edy still remains
uncommon.
About 94% of
sore throat pain
sufferers take
some remedy,
adding to the
growing demand
for a quick and
easy-to-use solution. However, currently, there is
no remedy to treat sore throat pain directly.
To provide a solution to you that can easily be
carried in your purse or pocket, an innovative
throat spray with a 3-in-1 formula is set to arrive
in Chennai and Coimbatore. With a single press,
this spray bottle directly targets both the throat
infection and sore throat pain without making
you feel drowsy. Throatsil consists of antiseptics
that treat mouth and throat-related bacterial and
viral infections and a local anaesthetic (com-
monly used in cough drops) to numb the throat
pain.
Now, sore throat pain relief is just a spray bot-
tle away.

T
he popular caveman-style Paleo
diet could actually be making
you gain weight and more sus-
ceptible to diabetes, according to a
recent study. The research revealed that
following a low-carbohydrate, high-fat
diet for just eight weeks can lead to
rapid weight gain and health complica-
tions, prompting researchers to issue a
warning about putting faith in so-called
fad diets with no scientific evidence.
This type of diet exemplified in many
forms of the popular Paleo diet, is not recom-
mended, particularly for people who are already
overweight and lead sedentary lifestyles. The
study reveals that the mass media hype around
these diets are leading to more people trying fad
diets backed by little evidence. In people with
pre-diabetes or diabetes, the low-carb, high-fat
(LCHF) diet could be particularly risky.
LCHF diets are becoming more popular, but
there is no scientific evidence that they actually
work. Thus, one needs to be very careful with
fad diets and always seek professional advice for
weight management backed by evidence.
