HEREWWMD?
• It’s clear that the cloud is the focus for Exchange.
• Exchange Online is the basis for Exchange on-premises,but with disabled components.
• As long as on-premises Exchange generates enough revenue it is reasonableto expect it will
have an on-premises version.
• But with what caveats? The cloud is the focus, feature first. When will it become no longer
attractive to “fork”?

HEREWWMD?
• Will there be another major release; Exchange 2019, 2022 etc.?
• Next version (if there is one) will probablybe updated more like Windows 10.
• More in tune with how Exchange Online already is being developed.
• Actually, Exchange Server 2016 already is being updated like this.

• When will we know?
• Difficult to say, everything has changed so we can’t use behaviorfrom the past.
• But up until now there has been a major build every three years.
• Maybe we know more at GWAVACon 2017?
