Graça Gerardo assumes the presidency of ACAPO National Board
"It is an honor to lead the destinies of the National Board. I will do everything to improve the life of visual
impaired persons" stated Graça Gerardo, who succeeds Ana Sofia Antunes as President of ACAPO. Graça
Gerardo said they will continue the line of action developed so far this term, having also taken the
opportunity to greet members, staff and friends of the institution. This change in the national board of the
institution comes after the dismissal of Ana Sofia Antunes, given her government functions in the twenty-
first Constitutional Government, as Secretary of State of Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.
ACAPO board members and staff trained on fundraising
Around 30 trainees, among ACAPO board members and staff, attended late October, a training on
fundraising, facilitated by Maria Castro
Almeida and the company “Call to Action”.
The project entitled "Eyes set on the
Future", [“De olhos postos no futuro”] in
the framework of the Active Citizenship
Program, is developed by the Calouste
Gulbenkian Foundation and co-funded by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area
(Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. With this capacity building, ACAPO expects to continue improving its
skills on the different ways of getting fundraising from private, individual or collective sources.
ACAPO leaders trained to a more efficient management
Around 40 leaders of ACAPO attended the first two-day technical session under the project "Gestão Mais"
(“More Management”). This session is aimed at improving ACAPO leadership skills, which will result in a
more efficient management of the institution. Rodrigo Santos (Chairman of the Audit and Jurisdiction
Board), Fernando Correia (Chairman of the Assembly of Representatives), Francisco Louçã (economist)
and Humberto Santos (President of the Portugal Paralympic Committee) were the facilitators. This project is
co-financed by the Financing Program INR IP Projects .[Este projeto é cofinanciado pelo Programa de

Training on youth employability@acapo
On December, 18 and 19 and on January 15, ACAPO delegations of Oporto, Braga and Coimbra, will host
the national training sessions on youth employability. These sessions are facilitated by Irina Francisco and
Alexandre Almeida, following the facilitators training they both attended in Tirrenia, last July. After the first
session held by Irina Francisco on November 28 in Lisbon, it’s now up to Alexandre Almeida to lead the
December sessions in Oporto and Braga. Each of this sessions is adressed to visually impaired from18 to
30 years old, who are unemployed or looking for their first job.
