5. CONJUGATING FUNGI
Have a multi-cellular form
Feed on organic matter and can be parasitic
Contains about 600 species of which most are land based.
6. SAC FUNGI
They produce a spore-filled structure that is called an ascus.
The spores are what the fungi use to reproduce
When the sac is disturbed, the spores are released leaving a chance
for the spores to grow and create its own spores.
7. CLUB FUNGI
They are made by the fungi producing spores on top of a club
structure called a basidia.
It is closely related to sac fungi and includes mushrooms,
toadstools, etc.
Some form a symbiotic relationship with plants and they work
together to thrive.
8. IMPERFECT FUNGI
Are fungi that are believed to have lost there ability to reproduce.
Because of this, they become sort of parasitic like ring worm and
athlete's foot.
Some imperfect fungi are used to make cheeses and penicillin.
9. PHYLOGENETIC TREE
Fungi started out with no stalk or top at all, then
it evolved into a thin stalked structure with small
tops. The fungi then evolved into a short stalked
structure and a spore filled cup on top of the
stalk. Finally, the fungi evolved into the
mushrooms we see today with long stalks and
spore-filled tops.
