details about a subject – Merriam Webster Dictionary
•A term with many meanings depending on context, but is as a
rule closely related to such concepts as meaning, knowledge,
instruction, communication, representation, and mental
stimulus - Wikipedia
INFORMATION
•Ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate
and compute, using printed and written materials associated
with varying contexts. Literacy involves a continuum of learning
in enabling individuals to achieve their goals, to develop their
knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in their
community and wider society - UNESCO

• “To be information literate, a person must be able to
recognize when information is needed and have the
ability to locate, evaluate, and use
effectively the needed information. The
information literate individuals are those who have
learned how to learn” (ALA, 1998).
• They know how to learn because they know how
knowledge is organized, know how to find information,
and know how to use information in such a way that
others can learn from them (Byerly/Brodie, 1999).

DEFINITIONS •Knowledge that you get about someone or something : facts or details about a subject – Merriam Webster Dictionary •A term with many meanings depending on context, but is as a rule closely related to such concepts as meaning, knowledge, instruction, communication, representation, and mental stimulus - Wikipedia INFORMATION •Ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate and compute, using printed and written materials associated with varying contexts. Literacy involves a continuum of learning in enabling individuals to achieve their goals, to develop their knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in their community and wider society - UNESCO LITERACY

INFORMATION LITERACY • “To be information literate, a person must be able to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information. The information literate individuals are those who have learned how to learn” (ALA, 1998). • They know how to learn because they know how knowledge is organized, know how to find information, and know how to use information in such a way that others can learn from them (Byerly/Brodie, 1999).
